They confiscated it during a cell transfer after he had it for weeks in solitary. He’s now stuck with a broken tablet that crashes constantly and makes a PDF Bible unusable. He’s filed 8 grievances. He’s offered to pay for a replacement. He’s been polite the entire time while studying Scripture daily.

Her response? All-caps: “YOU HAVE A TABLET. STOP ASKING.”

Meanwhile, the inmate next door gets a physical Torah.

This is blatant religious discrimination, a clear violation of the First Amendment, RLUIPA, and basic constitutional rights. Pre-trial detainees do NOT lose their right to practice their faith.

Captain Jessica Oakes has the authority to fix this immediately. She chooses not to.

The reason for this is that the new refrigerants do not dehumidify the same way that the old refrigerants did.

Technically they are making the air just as cold, but they’re not removing moisture from the air and draining it away at the same rate and it makes you feel not as cold.
