I encourage my Nurse Psychotherapy Colleagues @SheenaLGHoward@thewellRN and all education workers who want fair access to mental health support including the right to choose your provider to please email the Education worker benefits as below and demand autonomy of choice.
1) psychotherapy is a controlled act in Ontario; 2) the provincial legislation that outlines who can perform this controlled act INCLUDES nurses and 3) we do not require dual registration in any other college to safely, effectively and uniquely offer this. @SunLife@Manulife
Premier @fordnation please don't appeal court decision.
#Bill124 must be gone. It's damaging to democracy and has been hugely damaging to #Nursing + all #PublicServices

If my husband were to go back to his wedding proposal, it might sound like this: will you marry me and have lots of kids, dogs that shed, live in a house that’s always messy, be sleep deprived for about a decade and spend all our money on daycare, hockey and your education?
Thank you to Minister @MichaelTibollo for meeting with us and @RNAO to discuss increasing access to RN Psychotherapy and how to support a comprehensive and integrative approach to combatting the opioid crisis.
Extra special shout-out to @OTIP_Insurance!!! Thank you for including #nursepsychotherapy in your list of covered services!!!
Now if only the others like @SunLifeCA and @Manulife could get on board!! @CLHIA let's keep pushing for this change! Your clients will thank you!
Ontario's MDs (the OMA) said nothing serious about the largest health profession (nursing) facing ruinous public policy (Bill 124) affecting all of Ontario during the worst pandemic Ontario faced. There is no "team". @drrosezacharias @CathrynOna @OntariosDoctors@RNAO
@saramfung@LLynneIrwin Pay people what they are worth #RepealBill124
Ensure safe patient to nurse ratios. Make sure people get time off and vacation approved. Paid sick days for part time workers. Mentorship and good preceptorships throughout training. More accessible education and less gatekeeping.
Here's are some radical ideas for the nursing shortage.
How about making nursing school free? How about creating simulation centers so nursing students and IENs can actually complete their clinical hours? How about making legislation to ensure safe patient ratios?
@CLHIA is able to recognize the leap and need for mental health services, and yet, continue to limit and invalidate the work that RN Psychotherapists do…I struggle to make sense of this…@CBCOntMorning@CarolineRN@nursetherapists@momma_canuck
Unless you've been inside the hospital walls running short staffed, without approriate resources I truly could care less about your opinions of safety, quality care.
This is the problem. No one wants to listen to Nurses when we try to tell you about safety.
Patient accompanied by 3 police officers & 2 security guards admitted to my care in a locked mental health unit. Me. Little old me. Need I say more? Nurses deserve protection. Nurses deserve support. Nurses deserve respect. #nursingshortage#ONpoli#ONhealth#workplacesafety
Let’s play a game - what would happen if: Via rail didn’t get their negotiation - trains would shut down (wow); Teachers don’t get their negotiation - schools might close (uh oh); Nurses get stuck with Bill124 - hospitals could close…oh wait… #fordnation#nursesdeservebetter
@BregmanPs @NourKhatibMD @birgitomo Bill 124 impacts other health care providers beyond nurses, which are also enduring staff shortages. Healthcare is a ‘system’ beyond just physicians and nurses. They may be the most visible, but are not the entire picture. All healthcare professionals deserve better treatment.
