@AdamantxYves they want reassurance like “omg yes so true covid left years ago, it can’t hurt you anymore!” because deep down they’re not sure, and if they see someone taking precautions it triggers them to think twice, and thinking just once is a struggle for these people so
@DoubleGaijin nah the covid conscious people I know just don’t wanna die or become severely disabled from a preventable disease actually 🤷🏻♀️ and even if you wanna be like “that’s silly, it won’t do that damage” would you make people’s other phobias your problem like fear of covid seems to be?
@ruicharadrius this is often how my chronic pain/fatigue works, so I get carried away exercising thinking it’s going fine, but all the damage comes afterwards. you’re kinda using a credit card borrowing from your future energy, and getting into debt for an expensive spend.
@goodnightrage this is why it feels reasonable to push connections away from the start and not make friends with people, because you know eventually you’re going to disappoint them with the inability to be consistent or a good communicator. lots of those with adhd know “they’re not worth it”.
@nuel_szy the replies to this are not it.. like ok, you don’t experience this, so you must be better at being a person then, congrats? why wouldn’t it be an adhd thing, when this condition impacts memory and the ability to complete any task? yes, even when you *want* to make the effort.
i don’t know anything about the lesbian bar, i didn’t read the article, i do not care. there is literally nothing in the entire world that could justify how people are talking about the disabled community right now
I do feel bad for the covid-conscious people. Every major health authority said for years “there’s a massive pandemic that’s killing/disabling millions; do not leave the house,” then pretty quickly flipped to “eh nevermind lol.” Reasonable to go a bit insane processing that
@Punished_Alien you know both things can be true right. it’s a cycle, because long covid affects the brain’s dopamine, the phone is a huge source of dopamine, so the damaged brain seeks more damage; cause and effect.
@PJ11819211 Multiple sclerosis was called paralyzing hysteria in the 60s and AIDS was called gender hysteria in the 80s. Those examples are enough for you to know in which side of history you are.
@PJ11819211 most of you liking this post will already have long covid in some form or another, you’re just looking for any other explanation for your symptoms, because you have no actual idea what long covid is so therefore it must be “hysteria”, right, a historically ignorant phrase.
As many of you already know, George Monbiot has published another hard-hitting article on ME in the Guardian today.
Great to see such coverage, especially as the Guardian published some rubbish by others before

@slooterman I understand people not wanting to mask at social events, but not masking in healthcare settings and on airplanes is bonkers to me. you’re just willingly breathing in everyone’s germs when you don’t have to. it feels naked; like, not wearing shoes would be less dangerous.
