@RichardBurgon Announce your withdrawal of support for Liz Kendall, the Prime Minister and Rachel Reeves.
What they've done today is so warped.
Absolutely putrid.
Why are we nickel-and-diming the vulnerable; EVERYBODY is poorer if we allow disabled people to suffer.
How did we forget that?
Some really obvious candidates....
Schmeichel, Solskjaer, Vidic, Evra, Johnsen, Kanchelskis, Ronaldo, Silvestre, Blomqvist, de Gea, Park.
The roster of players who our fanbase considers as legends, often includes players who were previously anonymous, if known at all to most fans.... prior to signing for us.
Give him a fucking chance. My god.
I’d never heard of Vidić when we signed him.
I’d never heard of Schmeichel when we signed him.
Most United fans had never watched Ronaldo before he arrived either.
Judging Ederson before he’s even kicked a ball in a United shirt is pointless. Some of the best signings in the club’s history arrived with very little hype. Good luck to him!
'If anyone comes near my house of prayer, it will be extreme and utter violence.'
Caller Babbar is a Sikh ex-serviceman, and tells @HenryRiley1 that he's 'raging' over the protests in Southampton in response to Henry Nowak's murder.
🚨LIB DEM MP ATTACKS ELON MUSK AND RUPERT LOWE
I have no words for some people
This is Cameron Thomas, using a debate about child sex abuse to call @elonmusk a white supremacist responsible for starting the southport riots
He also claims Elon has a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein despite the Epstein files proving Elon REJECTED invites to Epstein island REPEATEDLY
He then attacks Rupert Lowe for being popular on X
People like this are why our country is falling apart
Cameron Thomas you are a f*cking disgrace
This an awful, shocking case.
Henry’s loved ones have gone through the trauma of a long trial and endured Henry's killer making up appalling claims about their son who was thoughtful, kind and deeply loved.
It is right that the IOPC is investigating the police’s response to his senseless murder. And we must end the cycle of tragedy by tackling the horror of knife crime.
Henry’s family, friends, his university and the city of Southampton will continue to feel his loss, and our thoughts will always be with them.
🚨🎙️Ian Wright on Matvey Safonov's towel for the TAB session during the penalty shootout in the champions league final against Arsenal:
“I’m sorry, but this has to be looked at properly. What Matvey Safonov did with that towel is straight-up cheating. Full stop.
“if we’re being consistent, football cannot pick and choose when information gathering is acceptable. We saw clubs investigated over scouting and intelligence-gathering scandals before. So explain to me the difference here.
You’ve got a PSG goalkeeper sitting there with a full tactical cheat sheet tucked into his towel, player names, numbers, flags, penalty tendencies, instructions like ‘FRAPPE FORT’, ‘SLOW SKIPPING’, ‘TAB 90’, the lot. He’s got Gyökeres, Kai Havertz, the works mapped out like it’s an open-book exam. This isn’t preparation, this is espionage in plain sight during a European tie against Arsenal.
“We’re not talking about instinct, preparation, or reading body language. We’re talking about a physical reference sheet being available during the shootout.
“If Southampton can face scrutiny over ‘spygate’ accusations, then UEFA should at least examine this as well. Either gathering opponent information is part of modern football or it isn’t. The rules cannot change depending on who wins the trophy.
“People will say, ‘Every club does penalty research.’ Fine. Do the research. But where is the line? Can you carry databases onto the pitch? Can coaches feed information every kick? Can players walk around with scouting reports in their socks?
“The problem isn’t PSG. The problem is consistency. Arsenal lose a Champions League final and suddenly everyone says it’s smart preparation. If Arsenal had won with a goalkeeper carrying a detailed PSG penalty guide, I guarantee half of Europe would be demanding an investigation.
“UEFA doesn’t even need to punish anyone. Just tell us clearly what is and isn’t allowed. Because if this is completely legal, then every goalkeeper in Europe will be turning up to penalty shootouts with a cheat sheet the size of a textbook next season.”
FT: PSG 1-1 Arsenal.
Gabriel misses. Luis Enrique side wins the UCL final on penalties.
Roy Keane in 2024 talked abt Arteta's side TIME WASTING tactics which cost them the final today.
They started it after going 1-0 up instead of looking for a 2nd.
That's a very reductive was of looking at it.
First, Barca have money this window, up to 250m EUR by all accounts, if they're to be believed.
Second, those wages are only reported.
Third, even if they are something like that, it's in Barca's best interests to make Rashford sign whatever deal is on the table, which will likely be lower.
Then there would be the possibility of selling on Gordon (just turned 25 this Feb) later.
Rashford turns 29 this year, so the sell-on prospects are vastly diminished.
Barca are financially, still in this 1:1 situation with respect signings and spending, and there will be exits, but who kows how many. This could motivate Rahford into signing and doing a deal himself on wages, knowing that there is limited capacity for a permanent move.
So, while Rashford is wanted, as apparently he is, he's hardly set the world alight and that will factor into their thinking - especially if they can get a sellable asset now within the increase budget for this summer.
Doing this deal now will also take otu the possiblity of a bidding war if Gordon impresses at the World Cup. Rashford's price is unlikely to go up (it could if he really performs, but any buyer would be facing the same limited sell-on conditions, and they'd have to negotiate with Rashford on his wages.
This is a shrewd move by Barca. They're getting in a faster younger winger while also making Rashford sweat.
They could also make United blink first and lower the fee.
Reducing it to "all they've done is save £20k a week" is a really, really poor take. It's almost childlike.
