Recently finished taking notes on "Analyzing Principal PD" by S. Zepeda (2013) there are a lot of great suggestions. One of my favorites: create PD's that are designed to the specific needs of the school.#5402
I am delighted in having a toolkit for adult learning characteristics, that will help me on the road to being an effective school leader. One strong take away - grow your team with job-embedded learning. #EDLR5402
There were a lot articles that I enjoyed reading in this class. I have to admit though, the last 5 articles really captured my attention. "A Leader's Framework for Decision-Making," "The Simple, Complicated, and Complex' just to name a few. #EDLR5402
@abby_searfoss@YaleEmotion@DalioEducation Hi Abby, is it the RULER platform that you will be using? We use RULER in our district and I find it to be very helpful in assisting our young people with gauging how they feel on certain days without saying a word i.e. blue - melancholy or even sad.#EDLR5402
The "Elephant Attention" poem by Howard C. Stevenson was very powerful. He did a wonderful job of capturing the cancer of racism using a metaphor. The cloud in the background will still be with us if we don't do anything about it though.#EDLR5402
@MsMitchellBio Oh yes! I loved the poem. You have to read his brother's book "Just Mercy," It will break your heart. People can be so cruel. I am happy to see his brother is doing something in the mix too.
I will begin the reflection paper but I think I will start with what resonated with me. Critical learning theory, social transformation, culturally relevant pedagogy. You know, the standar.๐#EDLR5402
Dr. Bernstein touched on some points tonight with engaging students in Culturally Relevant responses. I have found that if you develop relationships with the people around you, they are more likely to trust you. As a leader, they more likely to follow your lead. #EDLR5402
I wish we had more time before school started. There are so many uncertainities. We are currently in the realm of chaos with all of the unknown, unknowns. I know people want a sense of normalcy but at what price?#EDLR5402
Reading "PD as Social Transformation" by Mosley made me think about how to infuse social justice projects in elementary education especially with a literacy angle.#edlr5402
I loved the article "Professional Development as Social Transformation" by Rogers et al (2005) statement regarding "codes of power" with language. The power of language vs. the language of power. I frequently remind my students of the difference.
I loved the premise behind Amanda Morales' "Grow Your Own Teacher" program. Utilizing the community colleges as a springboard for teaching and capping it off with a 4 year college is wise. You can save money and get solid training.#EDLR5402
Enjoyed reading "PD as Social Transformation," Rogers et al especially when viewing teacher peers as "more knowledgeable others." Creating a community of learners where peers help you problem-solve and monitor your own practice.
