A6: I think consistency is important and shared goals. PLCs for me have changed so frequently that the lack of consistency I think has detracted from trust building. #5403Chat
The plus side was that teachers had a say in developing their own strategies to help build these skills. Although on the flip side of that is that each department approached the task differently so there wasn't continuity. This could go either way really... #5403Chat
A3: We were told by the data team that we were deficient in certain skills measured by the SAT. Each department was then tasked with determining a strategy to help build these skills in students. #5403Chat
Stakeholders found the presentation of the data incredibly confusing. To Jon's earlier point - no clear visuals to help teachers understand the data. Therefore, teachers were not that invested in the plans that were created. #5403Chat
I think what I've heard our data team usually focus on is "what are our areas of weakness?" I think more questions should be asked. Also, our data team only has two teachers on it which limits these conversations among staff. #5403Chat
βThe primary tool for improvement in any organization is not one-to-one appraisal but rather cultures that build in learning every day and that use appraisal to supplement and strengthen the learning.β -Fullan #EDLR5402
Principals have many roles to fill. According to Matthews and Crow - learner, culture builder, advocate, leader, mentor, supervisor, manager and politician. I think it's helpful to recognize each aspect of the job. #EDLR5402
So glad we gave the βelephantβ in the room βattentionβ tonight. It was very refreshing to engage in a critical discussion on race, power and oppression with all of you. This work is so important. #equity#BlackLivesMatter#EDLR5402
Love this statement with regard to creating inclusive learning environments. "Build a community based on both openness and intellectual rigor to create a democratic classroom." - Tisdell #EDLR5402
