It was good while it lasted: Github Copilot Pro+ was a great deal. 1500 premium requests per month, with Sonnet 4.6 costing @ 1x and Opus 4.8@15x. It didn't matter if you said "hi" or a 2 page wish, 1 chat was 1 premium request (this was pretty rad). Also saw a post on someone gaming this to run Claude models for hours on end (ouch!).
Starting June 1, we saw the costing model for GH Copilot Pro move to token based, and tons of Reddit posts on the backlash how it affected users.
When I opened it yesterday, I saw that my plan was still at 1500 premium requests legacy plan as I had paid "annual" Pro+. Was quite happy seeing that.
But today, I saw the rates updated - GPT5.5 @ 57x!!, and Opus 4.7+ @ 27x. Dang! The beginning of the end of `The deep discounted token age for getting you addicted`

Opus 4.7 + Plan mode = A Token Guzzler. Spent 30$ + 100% hourly quota for ONE arch plan + implementation.
Task: Mid-complex architectural change for https://t.co/TcWJx1et6R's Tenant Workflow.
Was it a one shot wonder: No!
What worked better: Opus 4.5, followed by Sonnet 4.6 for fixing hard issues, Haiku 4.5 for minor changes.

@github GH Copilot's latest set of updates are a welcome change.
- Comments to a PR thread created by and Agent now uses the same Agentic session thread for further actions on it, greatly improving context history.
- No auto creation of PR.
- Ability to choose model when doing an `@copilot`
