Libertarian Conservative.
I criticize bad arguments and promote good ones. Just because your argument is bad doesn't mean you're wrong.
Watch out for sarcasm.
Right now, both parties seem to believe the other party is an existential threat.
Which causes them and their more radical members to escalate, which is interpreted as proof of the other sides' fears.
Existential us vs them can easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It's said that desperate times call for desperate measures, i.e. tactics that violate norms and laws. So beware groups that constantly convince themselves that times are desperate. They live in a delusion in which desperate measures are always justified to achieve their goals.
Me: Uses government system
the system: I'm sorry, that choice is not available.
Me: tries again making the exact same choice
the system: You got it champ
The whole family went to go support one of my little sisters at her high school volleyball play offs.
My mom asks "So have you watched girl's high school volleyball before?"
😶
I am a 32 year old man who just got divorced. No, I do not watch girl's high school volleyball.
One positive way to look at the Young Republicans revelations is that it appears that the Based Ritual is now becoming more low status on the right. It seems five years ago you would see this more often among Yale Law grads, now it's strivers in state politics. It became lame, to a large degree because I've named this phenomenon and viciously mocked it. You're welcome.
@wil_da_beast630 I can't prove their paid agitators, a psyop, etc but that seems like a great one, and if our adversaries aren't doing it, they're missing out on a viable attack strategy🤷♂️
@wil_da_beast630 I have had two separate people tell me they wanted to put me in camps for opposing their idea to put all their left wing political opposition in camps. I find it hard to believe these are real people. But maybe that's because they don't realize that I would shoot people who tried
I got called "controlled opposition," and it's worth discussing this.
I'm not opposition at all, in the sense meant by dissidents and Antifa types. I'm a leader - an executive and university prof - in THIS society. If you want to destroy it for partisan reasons, you're an opp.
@wil_da_beast630 Time to play my favorite game, ironic or unironic. The spelling suggests unironic. But it's also so on the nose. It's truly incredible.
What you don’t see in the published version of this debate is my first opponent approaching me and saying, “I’m so sorry about your friend Charlie.”
It was the day before his memorial. This sincere gesture set the tone.
I had already made it my aim to disarm them with kindness, but the truth is, many of them disarmed me, too.
I’ve seen a lot of people say this was different than other Jubilee debates. Everyone felt that in the moment — even the producers, who are progressive, said so.
You’ll just have to believe me when I tell you the Holy Spirit was there. And while all the credit goes to Jesus, I have to thank Charlie for how he coached me before this debate and how, even in death, he helped bring honor to Jesus.
There is only one other time in my life that I have heard a human being say that someone's eyes were black.
It was during a training interrogation with a guy who didn't speak english very well. I asked for eye color and this man said "black". After a pause we all laughed.
