PRESS STATEMENT
OBIDIENT MOVEMENT REJECTS THE APPOINTMENT OF THEO ABU AGADA AND DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FROM NDC LEADERSHIP AND TANKO YUNUSA
The attention of the Obidient Movement has been drawn to the appointment of Theo Abu Agada as Director of New Media and Strategic Communications by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
We condemn this appointment in the strongest possible terms.
This appointment is not just insensitive. It is a direct insult to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the Obidient Movement, and the millions of Nigerians who have stood firmly behind a movement built on competence, character, justice, accountability, and people-centred politics.
A party that claims to value the Obidient Movement cannot turn around and appoint a man whose public record is filled with repeated attacks, insults, and open hostility towards their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Obidients. You cannot disrespect the largest support base within your political structure and still pretend you are building unity.
Theo Abu Agada has publicly described supporters of their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in insulting terms. He has questioned Peter Obi’s capacity, portrayed him as a threat to free speech, accused his supporters with reckless language, and repeatedly made statements that show clear contempt for the same movement NDC now expects to energise its public communication.
Even worse, he once claimed that Peter Obi had “unleashed his IPOB supporters on Nigerians.” That kind of statement goes beyond political disagreement. It is a dangerous attempt to link their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Obidients to IPOB, and by extension paint the movement with the brush of extremism and terrorism. No serious political party that respects Peter Obi or the Obidient Movement should reward such a person with a sensitive communications position.
Can NDC appoint someone who has publicly insulted and disparaged Rabiu Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya Movement into a sensitive communications position and expect Kwankwasiyya supporters to clap for it? Can NDC reward someone who has repeatedly attacked Kwankwaso and still claim it respects his movement?
If the answer is no, then why does NDC think it can do this to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement?
The NDC leadership must explain how such a person passed through any serious political vetting process for a sensitive communications role. New Media and Strategic Communications is not a decoration. It is the public voice of a party. Appointing someone with a history of hostility towards their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement into that office sends a very clear message, and the message is disrespect.
This also raises serious questions about the role and effectiveness of Tanko Yunusa as the leader of the Obidient Movement.
What exactly is Tanko doing?
In the Labour Party, he was always seen around the leadership, taking pictures and standing close to Peter Obi, yet the same Labour Party repeatedly disrespected Peter Obi and the movement he was supposed to represent.
In ADC, the same pattern repeated itself. The Obidient Movement was treated with disregard, and its value was undermined.
Now in NDC, the same thing is happening again. The party leadership continues to disregard the Obidient Movement, even though Obidients remain the largest, loudest, and most active stakeholder group in this political alignment. That disregard has now reached their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, directly through the appointment of someone whose public record shows open hostility towards him.
So we ask again: what exactly is Tanko doing?
Is he there to defend the movement, or to take pictures?
Is he there to protect Peter Obi’s political leverage, or to stand in rooms like a mannequin?
Is he there to represent Obidients, or to lock comment sections whenever people ask uncomfortable questions?
Tanko Yunusa must answer a simple question: what the hell is he doing?
The Obidient Movement cannot continue to be treated as a crowd for rallies, online engagement, and political optics, while those who openly insult the movement are put in strategic positions where they will continue the insults.
We demand the following:
1. The immediate reversal of Theo Abu Agada’s appointment.
2. A public explanation from the NDC leadership on how this appointment was approved.
3. A formal apology to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement.
4. A clear commitment from NDC that no individual with a public record of hostility towards Peter Obi or the Obidient Movement will be placed in any sensitive strategic communication role.
5. A full explanation from Tanko Yunusa on what he is doing as leader of the Obidient Movement and why this pattern of disrespect keeps repeating itself under his watch.
The Obidient Movement is not a spare tyre. We are not political furniture. We are not a movement to be used when convenient and disrespected when power is being shared.
If NDC wants the energy, credibility, reach, and sacrifice of Obidients, then it must treat the movement with respect.
Anything short of that is unacceptable.

Prophet of Thoughts
For and on behalf of Obidients, since the leadership of the Movement is sleeping.
Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election and 2027 NDC presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has challenged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to provide a detailed account of how borrowed funds have been utilised amid Nigeria’s rising public debt profile. Obi alleged that the country’s total debt has climbed to about N200 trillion, increasing by over N100 trillion within three years, and argued that the pace of borrowing has outstripped previous administrations.
Citing Budget Office figures, Obi claimed the federal government borrowed N11.89 trillion between January and September 2025, exceeding its projected borrowing target, while only a fraction of the funds was reportedly allocated to capital projects. He questioned the destination of the remaining funds and called for greater transparency and accountability in public finance management.
The remarks have intensified debate over government borrowing, fiscal sustainability and the balance between financing development and managing Nigeria’s growing debt burden

Media Framing of Crime Along Ethnic Lines: Divisive.
As an Igbo man, I have endured stereotypes, judgment, and labelling solely based on my ethnic origins. This is not an isolated Igbo experience. Most Nigerians have, at some point, been reduced to their ethnicity rather than recognised for their true character.
I understand the pain of the ordinary Fulani man today, often unfairly judged by the actions of criminals he does not support, has never met, and who are not representative of his people.
Even in America, such unjust labelling fueled the civil rights movement and prompted Martin Luther King Jr. to declare that people should be judged by the content of their character, not the colour of their skin.
Every Nigerian ethnic group is known for its unique traditions, occupations, skills, and strengths. Crime, however, has no ethnicity. A thief is a thief. A terrorist is a terrorist. A kidnapper is a kidnapper. They are bad actors, not representatives of any people. They must be identified, arrested, and punished according to the law.
We must decisively abandon the dangerous practice of blaming entire ethnic groups for the actions of a few criminals. It is unjust, it breeds hatred, and it damages our national unity.
Let us proudly celebrate our diverse cultures, talents, and contributions, rather than falling prey to stereotypes and prejudices that politicians and divisive interests exploit for their gain.
A new Nigeria must emerge—one where no citizen is condemned because of tribe, religion, or birthplace. We can cherish our cultural roots while standing united by justice, mutual respect, and hope for a better future. We are capable of this.
A new Nigeria is within our reach. -PO
The one of the many legacies of APC. Although, the master strategist have been manipulating & using the court to win elections for others especially in SW & the abracadabra 4th position been declared winner in Imo state.
Those are the structure they claimed he built.

@eurofounder Take your propaganda elsewhere and don't try to bring it near the UAE.
Even with the Iran threat of cowardice, UAE stands taller and I can confirm to you, every residents/expats here have full confidence in the UAE government protection.
We are at peace, not like you in fear.
@IRMilitaryMedia Is this suppose to be a warning or a threat after firing ballistic missiles in a sovereign and peaceful country?
May the reason for Ramadan bring peace and heal everyone.
Peter Obi Scales Another Trap – Integrity Intact
In the Nov 8 Anambra guber poll, vote-buyers targeted Obi’s polling unit in Agulu to disgrace him. Friends urged him: “Bring thugs, spend ₦100m to secure it.”
He refused.
“I can’t be them. That’s rascality. It's not about ego and pride. I’d rather fund the School of Nursings than buy votes.”
Obi campaigned decently, trusted God & play by the rules. Critics like Reno, Deji and Data boys are disappointed that he won’t play their kind of politics.
This is why we believe in him.
@channelstv This Tinubu terrible government no longer have a face to hide their lies and shame. When we told them lies & propagandas are not means of good governance, they waved it because, they believed they are the master strategist of propaganda using the mainstream media.
Can Tinubu buy Ai?
@NigeriaStories Is it not obvious why this opportunist sees himself as a demigod and godfather. Imagine saying the roads and water he provided.. 😏
Provided with your money or public money @GovWike?
How much are you worth today? Which company did you work or business enterprise before politics?
@MobilePunch All these Tinubu ronus hiding under Yoruba culture to steer ethnic divisions among Nigerians because they feared Peter Obi & have no other means to win the people to their agbado side except to tarnish his image.
It is time the good people of Yoruba rises against Tinubu ronus
Press Statement
FG Refutes False Claims of Religious Genocide in Nigeria
The Federal Government strongly condemns and categorically refutes recent allegations by certain international platforms and online influencers suggesting that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians. Such claims are false, baseless, despicable, and divisive.
Portraying Nigeria’s security challenges as a targeted campaign against a single religious group is a gross misrepresentation of reality. While Nigeria, like many countries, has faced security challenges, including acts of terrorism perpetrated by criminals, couching the situation as a deliberate, systematic attack on Christians is inaccurate and harmful. It oversimplifies a complex, multifaceted security environment and plays into the hands of terrorists and criminals who seek to divide Nigerians along religious or ethnic lines.
The violent activities of terrorist groups are not confined to any particular religious or ethnic community. These criminals target all who reject their murderous ideology, regardless of faith. Muslims, Christians, and even those who do not identify with any religion have suffered at their hands.
The Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to completely degrading terrorist groups and securing the lives and property of all citizens, and this resolve is already yielding results. Between May 2023 and February 2025 alone, over 13,543 terrorists and criminals were neutralized and nearly 10,000 hostages rescued in multiple military operations across the country.
Only last month, the top leadership of Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi-Biladis Sudan - commonly known as ANSARU, Nigeria’s Al-Qaeda affiliate, was captured in a well-coordinated counter-terrorism operation. They are: Mahmud Muhammad Usman (aka Abu Bara’a/Abbas/Mukhtar), the self-styled Emir of ANSARU; and Mahmud al-Nigeri (aka Mallam Mamuda), Abu Bara’s proclaimed Chief of Staff and Deputy.
These feats underscore the determination and success of our security forces and expose as unfounded the notion that Nigeria is passively tolerating religiously motivated terrorism.
The Federal Government is steadfast in its duty to protect every Nigerian, regardless of ethnic or religious identity, and continues to work with international partners to address the global threat of terrorism.
The Nigerian Armed Forces and Police have demonstrated their commitment to accountability by conducting several court martials and prosecutions to hold their officials accountable for any misconduct. This effort underscores the importance of discipline and adherence to the rule of law within our security agencies.
Nigeria is a multi-religious state with large populations of both Christians and Muslims. We are home to one of the largest Muslim communities in the world, alongside some of the biggest Pentecostal churches and the largest Anglican congregation globally. Christianity is neither endangered nor marginalized in Nigeria. It is doubtful that foreign interlopers into Nigerian affairs are aware that the current heads of both the Armed Forces and the Police Force are Christians—a fact that underscores the inclusivity of our national leadership.
In the fight against terrorism, Nigeria has made significant strides in prosecuting Boko Haram suspects. To date, we have successfully prosecuted seven batches of suspects, securing over 700 convictions. We are currently moving into our eighth prosecution cycle, further demonstrating our resolve to tackle terrorism and its sponsors.
Under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, our administration remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding justice and enhancing security. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who threaten our nation's peace and stability are brought to justice.
The Nigerian story is not one of religious genocide or persecution. Rather, it is a story of resilience, diversity, and a globally acknowledged commitment to peaceful coexistence. In March of this year, the inaugural Commonwealth Peace Prize was awarded to two Nigerian religious leaders, Rev. Dr. James Movel Wuye and Imam Dr. Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa, co-founders of the Interfaith Mediation Centre. Their decades-long work to promote trust and tolerance across faiths now serves as a model for peacebuilding in all 56 Commonwealth countries. This means that Nigeria is not only exporting culture and music to the world—we are also exporting proven frameworks for interfaith harmony.
We urge the international media and other commentators to act with responsibility and have respect for facts. All stakeholders are advised to avoid ignorance, sensationalism, and divisive rhetoric, and instead support Nigeria’s ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism and all forms of criminality.
Mohammed Idris, fnipr
Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation.

@AishaYesufu It is heartwarming to see many Nigerians sharing their opinions in our political space but regrettable, most aren't just gullible but naive.
Many of them are bemoaning of my previous response & forgot Tinubu winning votes is minority. Atiku + Peter Obi votes outnumbered & add NNPP
@AishaYesufu He can never rig 2027 election and survive it because, not only are majorities of Nigerians do no want him, the gods of the land are also ashamed of the disgrace Nigeria and Nigerian faces among international communities.
@HighChiefOkoro@lukuenzy For the brainwashed agbados following political jobbers & syncophants who are deceiving them for their selfish interests. I hope you're benefiting from Tinubu government like your favourite influencers who dishes lies & propagandas for their paymaster.
