@MissESGeography We usually go to Osterley as well. Are you able to share this template with me? Happy to reciprocate with anything other resources. Thanks.
@NorthernGeogger@QueensSch_Geog What field surveys did you decide to conduct? I’m designing something for two weeks time with Y9. Please let me know. Any templates would be useful. Thanks.
@jillberry102@andrew_cowley23 It’s important for PSHE delivery to be both responsive and flexible based on a whole range of contextual issues, not just mental health: crime, patterns of substance abuse (eg. vaping), local tragedies, transport safety, etc.
@c_l_walker I listened to your GeogPod interview yesterday and found it intriguing. As a keen geographer I’m eager to explore similar threads in a west London school - can you recommend a London university which might support this push for more classroom storytelling?
@kate_stockings@fiona_616 Nice practical idea. The simple things are often overlooked. For example, we take boxes of spare pencils for recording data in the rain because students forget that pen ink tends to “run”.
@fiona_616 Ss also sketch examples of brownfield sites as well as inner high rises. In contrast, on our way to coastal Seaford, Ss are asked to identify & sketch patchwork fields, record other rural uses and discuss issues of connectivity. 2/2
@fiona_616 In my experience too many teachers forget about the journey time to FW sites and miss the associated potential learning. We travel to Canary Wharf for GCSE urban fieldwork using overground train and tube. On the overground we ask Ss to sketch & annotate changes in land-use. 1/2
@lcgeography @CMooreAnderson @olicav I’ll send you our common misconceptions about coasts and hard / soft engineering over the next few days. Really important that teachers explore these common errors.
@MrBishopGeog@fiona_616 This is a very nice reflective tool - we use similar questions on a slide. Where is this sheet secured afterwards? Could you use it to show parents / carers?
@brassoteach We have a standard slide & wall poster with 5-6 alternative phrases which Ss can use instead of “I don’t know”. For example: can you re-phrase that? Can I have 30 seconds thinking time? Can you provide me with a sentence starter? Can you provide an example to support my answer?
