My wallet is empty but my bag & my heart are both full, cause my glow is about to be upgraded, thanks to @buybetterng
Their new store is gorgeous and I had so much fun shopping, eating and drinking with my fellow skincare lovers.
I even got free gifts and free skin analysis🥳
I struggled with everything yesterday —work, telegram, language lessons, daily challenges. The worst is, all of them still made me think of money. That I need more money as it is expensive to live in Nigeria, or even leave...
I hope this week, we try to challenge all our excuses for not doing the extra thing we need to do to achieve our goals.
Challenge all your “I’m busy”, “there’s no time”, “I don’t have the latest gadget”, etc and try to find alternative ways to do what you’re supposed to do🙏🏾💪🏾❤️
Take your foreign language learning as seriously as you take your project management and virtual assistant trainings.
Set a time table to study, take notes like you normally would in a classroom, and practice proper vocabulary memorisation and retention❤️💪🏾
Me asf!
Egbon Toyin Omotoso also says this a lot. You can’t save your way out of poverty. If anything, inflation might just make you poorer.
You need to make more money. Learn a skill or start a business and open up new streams of income for yourself. It’s just the only way🤌🏾
Teach yourself to exercise your commitment muscle. Whenever you say you’re going to do something, see it through. Life becomes so much easier when you habitually follow through.
I have found a beautiful verse
Isaiah 46 v 4
I will be your God through your lifetime --until your hair is white with age. I have made you, and I will carry you . I will sustain you and I will rescue you
It's the small habits. How you spend your mornings, how you talk to yourself, what you read, who you follow, what you watch, who you share your energy with, who has access to you that will change your life.
Referrals are one of the leading ways to get a job as a designer.
But it is often the most overlooked.
I asked some design friends and colleagues how they got most of their jobs. They had one thing in common: "Referrals".
I could relate because when I started as a designer, I could easily attribute 95% of the jobs I got to referrals; it was usually someone reaching out to me and commending the work I did for someone they know and wanting to get their designs done, too.
One of the best moments of my design career was when a client screenshotted all my work and told me all she wanted from me was to replicate the excellent job I did for her friend for her as well.
So, as a designer, how do you get more referrals?
1. Deliver excellence: Consistently produce high-quality work that wows your clients and employers. When people love what you do, they'll naturally want to spread the word. You never know who's looking, so make every design you do count, even if it will cost you sleepless nights.
2. Cultivate relationships: Build strong connections within the design community and beyond. The deeper your relationships, the more likely people will refer you to others.
3. Ask for referrals: Be bold and ask satisfied clients, colleagues, and contacts for referrals. If they're pleased with your work, they'll likely be happy to recommend you to others.
4. Stay top of mind: Keep in touch with your network regularly through social media, newsletters, or personal check-ins. The more you stay on people's radars, the more likely they'll refer you when the opportunity arises.
