@djstrickland @benwrightish As a queer woman who preaches, I couldn’t possibly pick an “agenda” to have over another. Women in ministry aren’t free until queer folk in ministry are free. Mutual liberation requires both. I long for the day others see that.
@JoLuehmann Me! As a staff person, we were told that if congregants were asked to give (or volunteer) we should be out giving them (or out volunteering… at our place of work)… among regular check ins on how much we were giving.
@JoLuehmann I was told that “the board” had looked into my giving and was very concerned. None of my colleagues who had also been unable to tithe the week before (which was basically all of them) ever had to have a conversation like I did… sigh. I want my money back.
@JoLuehmann The tithing record part- After trying to have a convo about blatant transphobia tweeted from the church account, I was called into senior pastor’s (my boss) office to see if I didn’t understand tithing or needed a heart adjustment because I hadn’t tithed the week before…
Bringing some visibility to your timeline today. #nationalcomingoutday#comingoutiseveryday (P.S. There is no pressure to come out. Be safe. You're loved. 🌈🦄🌻)
