I was just subpoenaed in an anti-gun lawsuit...for being a guntuber. Link to the lawsuit is below. The case is Roberts v. Smith & Wesson, and it's the same playbook, almost copy+paste, of the Soto v. Bushmaster "Sandy Hook" lawsuit against Remington, which put them out of business.

This one arises from the Highland Park July 4 shooting, where the killer used an M&P15. The plaintiffs are of course attempting to blame S&W for the incident and the theory, you guessed it, "negligent marketing." They say S&W appealed to young men interested in militaristic imagery and that this influenced the shooter to select the M&P15, and that this more or less was a cause of this incident. Insanity.

Now they are reaching beyond S&W and into firearms media. I was served with a subpoena demanding years of info and analytics from me about S&W and reviews I've done. The part that should concern my fellow gun reviewers: Their subpoena defines an "Advertisement" to include even unpaid organic social-media content. In other words, by the plaintiffs' definition, even an independent review of a lawful product is "advertising," and they think they are entitled to any info that touches on essentially any YouTube video about the M&P15 during the relevant period.

This is EXACTLY the end-run around the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that led me to draft what became the PLCAA Clarification Act. The PLCAA was enacted to protect manufacturers from lawfare over crimes committed by third parties. Plaintiffs have increasingly pleaded around that protection after the Soto case by using "negligent marketing" as a loophole, which defeats the purpose of the PLCAA.

Versions of the PLCAA Clarification Act I wrote have now been enacted in West Virginia, Montana, and Kentucky. I've been told Kentucky has already dismissed a frivolous lawsuit with it. Consider contacting your legislators and looping me on on the email so we can keep the PLCAA Clarification Act passage rolling.

Illinois obviously is not going to pass it. But Congress can. And whatever your politics on guns, there is a larger issue here: If a manufacturer sends a journalist or creator a product to independently test, that does not magically transform the resulting review into advertising. Treating independent editorial coverage as corporate marketing merely because someone reviewed a lawful product is a dangerous theory that reaches far beyond the gun industry.

One final note for people in the gun media space: if you receive one of these subpoenas, do not ignore it and do not start deleting anything. Feel free to contact me and we can discuss whether I can assist with your response or coordinate with appropriate local counsel.

Somewhere between 75 and 80% of Britain's barn owls now have to nest in a box somebody built for them. One man has built 350 of them.

The reason the number is that high is that almost everything they used to nest in is gone. Hollow trees came down. Old barns got converted into houses or replaced with sealed steel sheds.

The rough field margins where voles live got farmed right to the edge, so even where a bird finds a site there's often nothing to feed a brood.

Add road deaths and rodenticide moving up from poisoned mice, and the species spent most of a century sliding toward extinction.

Robert Salter, a bricklayer from Camerton in East Yorkshire, has been working to save the barn owl for 35 years. He has no grants, no formal organization, no funding. He started at 21 after watching a news segment about a man in Lincolnshire putting up owl boxes.

Every June he takes four weeks off work, unpaid, and does the rounds with his wife Sue. Up ladders into farm sheds and trees, checking boxes, repairing them, weighing and ringing owlets under a British Trust for Ornithology license. He built a brick owl tower in his own garden, and a pair in it raised five young this year.

Last season he ringed 308 owlets. The year before it was 95.

That jump was mostly due to voles. Barn owl breeding tracks field vole numbers, which boom and crash on their own schedule, and 2025 was a boom year in his patch. Across the rest of England it was a poor season, dry spring, thin grass, not enough cover for voles.

That's what a box does. It doesn't create owls. It makes sure that when the food is there, there's somewhere to raise a brood, and the good year actually converts into more birds.

"I don't see it as a hobby," he told the Yorkshire Post. "I see it as my duty. As long as I can keep doing it I will keep doing it."

On 1/23/2020 in Rockwall, TX, Rockwall PD FTO Britney Lane finished a traffic stop at a Racetrack gas station.

First Amendment auditor Otto the Watchdog was filming.

As Lane drove off she allegedly took both hands off the wheel and made a shaking “E”-like gesture at him. Otto flipped her off.

Lane stopped, asked a bystander if he’d seen the gesture and if it offended him, then detained and arrested Otto for disorderly conduct over the “obscene/inappropriate” gesture.

She cited a dictionary definition of obscene and Texas law on offensive public gestures.

The charge was dismissed by the prosecutor the next morning.

Otto later sued Lane under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for 1st, 4th, and 14th Amendment violations.

The arrest also caused him to miss a court date in an unrelated case, which led to loss of contact/visitation with his children for a period.

The case was settled out of court.

Lane was promoted to sergeant about two months later.

Let’s check in on Round Rock, Texas (near Austin), where 26-year-old sub-Saharan African Benedict Ogbodiegwu Jr. just allegedly murdered a White man, 62-year-old Andrew James Wimsatt.

Andrew liked to sit at the park and take photos that he shared on his IG. Around 11am, Wimsatt was sitting on a park bench when Ogbodiegwu began attacking him with a knife. Ogbodiegwu wrapped his left arm around Wimsatt and started viciously stabbing him. Wimsatt tried to push him off but failed.

Ogbodiegwu continued stabbing Wimsatt several times before Wimsatt fell to the ground. Ogbodiegwu then got on top of the victim and started visibly sawing Wimsatt’s neck with the knife before running away toward the park’s pool area.

The attack happened at Chandler Creek Park and was captured on a nearby security camera.

That video will never be released to the public and will stay hidden forever so as not to alarm White people.
