5. Another aspect that people often think about is - how much time should I invest in posting on a new platform when I have fewer followers than on Twitter?
One tool to help in a transition is to use a cross-poster, with a few caveats: https://t.co/FOtsQCAAi2
I don't hang out on here as much as I used to. If you want to (re)connect, you can find me here:
- Mastodon (#Boulder peeps welcome to join!): https://t.co/zk2JoYZ6Ee
- LinkedIn (but I don't update much) https://t.co/a4XXFaJsvi
- DM for my mailing list, if that's your thing.
for people in the Boulder area looking to move to Mastodon, feel free to join the Boulder server that some of us are managing: https://t.co/HDGhJewl0Y
and use my guide ->
Twitter is not a public town square no matter how many "commitments" to this or that the owner gives. Only a decentralized, open-source system can guarantee that.
@thebmbennett If resilient community building is what you want, decentralized, open source, open protocol is the way to go. It's flat and egalitarian.
If influence and reach are the aim, then a centralized platform is necessary.

@AnnaSegur @DanWilliams303 Banning or reducing 2 stroke engine use is a good thing for pretty much everyone, so let's think about ways to make that transition possible and equitable!
These GHG savings are some of the "cheapest" local govs could "buy" so this should be an easy win-win for funding.
@AnnaSegur @DanWilliams303 It seems like you and I could probably agree to a few points:
1 reducing our GHG emissions is important
2 minimizing health impacts of gas leaf blowers on those using them should be a priority
3 local gov's should be willing to subsidize the reduction of small gas engines
@AnnaSegur @DanWilliams303 At least one landscaper has made it work:
Sure it takes some capital, but savings in gas cost and trips to the gas station will add up fast.

Common misconception: "local" doesn't mean you can only see local people. You can see posts and interact with anyone on any server, if you want to.
Local just means we're trying to get folks from the Boulder area to congregate in one place so it's easier to find each other.
Hey #Boulder, our local #Mastodon instance is humming along and gaining a strong network of great people. It's a very refreshing experience after you get through the initial setup phase. Come join us!

if you live in the Boulder area, several of us are working on a growing Mastodon server!
starting to get critical mass and would love you to join us: https://t.co/cGjKR7wCsx
