@TwiggySR @JonesLoon @meganrcassidy@BobEgelko Put simply, we’re not. Cities and states vote to ban guns. Groups like the NRA file lawsuits, they work through the system until they reach the Supreme Court. Our last president picked two justices. In short, Millions of Americans said no, six justices said yes. Here we are.
@SeventhDrMilk @derekkbaker_ One of the biggest ideas they had was that power of the government flows forth from the consent of the governed. That’s the 10th amendment, likely one of the most powerful. (4)
@SeventhDrMilk @derekkbaker_ Sorry if this has been handled; and this is mostly informed opinion.
The founding fathers are seen from the modern perspective as as being incredibly brave for defying the king of England, declaring war against him, and somehow winning. (1)
@SeventhDrMilk @derekkbaker_ It means that individual states decide which decisions they prefer to keep under local legislative control, and which they wish to give to the federal government. If you read through to later amendments, you’ll see a long list of changes made over time. (Actually 5)
@SeventhDrMilk @derekkbaker_ The Bill of rights was written to protect the rights of the individual. The right to free speech, due process, trial by a jury of your peers, protection against unlawful search and seizure, quartering of government troops. Etc. (3)
@SeventhDrMilk @derekkbaker_ Completely separate from that, they are also seen as being incredibly intelligent as they managed to write a self governing bill of rights that for 250 years has guided our society through some of the most difficult periods of time, mostly in the right direction. (2)
I usually enjoy the little details, until I’m wandering through a grocery store for zip locks, only to end up questioning reality. I see you #artdepartment. Well done. #wandavision#setlife#chinet#isthisreallife https://t.co/DM5Ue815G6
@Macrike@reckless Wow. I thought you were exaggerating. We put a Q’Anon dentist in the House of Representatives. 😐 that’s gonna take a minute. I’m more interested in the Nelson and Cabeceiras suits. RH seems to be working to negate the injury, which might make the cases moot before they land.
@Broadspire1 could use a little help here. Kinda hard to get life restored if the claims adjuster won’t pick up the phone. 14 days, no contact. It’s just debilitating pain from a fall. No rush.
