Part of me fears that Public schools refusing to play Non-Privates will be the next course of action in Section 1. And for many reasons, I don’t believe in that.

As much as people talk about laws and appeals and votes, you have to ask this one simple question:

How long will you stay in a place where you’re clearly not wanted anymore?

It has reached that point for the non-publics in Section 1. Public schools have unanimously decided they do not want private schools in their postseason tournaments.

They are not proposing to remove them from Section 1 entirely - just a state-wide separation for the playoffs. The more this fight goes on, the more tense this is going to get.

Received this email that the NYSPHSAA Appeal Panel has unanimously overturned Section 1’s Amendment that will create a separate classification for non-public schools.

More details to come.

@SecOneAthletics likely expected this. Superintendents must now respond.
