We recently obtained the highest-resolution 3D images of the human brain ever taken from outside the skull. This is the first look.

From this data, it may be possible to infer what someone is seeing, feeling, or thinking. The first steps toward decoding thought itself! And more than just read a thought, you could share it! Directly from one mind to another.

Had a great time hacking on this with the team @ennucore, @exr0n_finally, and @yush_g! Pioneering the extremely niche frontier of ultrasound nose science (someone had to)
Can ultrasound make you smell things that arenโt there?
Turns out, yes! We reliably triggered distinct scents like a campfire burn or a garbage truck by targeting our brains with ultrasound. To our knowledge, this has never been done before, even in animals.
This may be a promising modality for writing to the brain non-invasively:

1/n ๐Introducing #NSDImagery at #CVPR25! The first benchmark dataset that links ultra-high-res 7T #fMRI to mental imagery, extending the iconic Natural Scenes Dataset from what we see to what we imagine.
Why are MRIs so damn heavy?
They weigh over 10,000 pounds, or about 3 cars' worth.
MRI design knowledge is hidden inside large companies, so I tried to work it out from first principles. ๐งต (1/12)
Can we invent new brain-computer interface modalities?
@raffi_hotter and I got 9 friends together and built a lab at home to test two totally new imaging methods: acoustoelectric imaging & functional ultrasound through the skull
๐งต story that involves nV measurements, pretty physics, and a real human skull
