Just seen a copy of what appears to be an Amnesty international report advocating the removal of charitable status from the Catholic Bishops conference and the Evangelical alliance - for being Christian.

What an example of an organisation losing its way.

Yesterday all my items were stolen in Eastbourne including my stats book which has 20 years worth of details in. Laptops, phones, clothes, shavers etc can all be replaced but this can’t and is useless to anyone else. It’s in a plastic folder you can see in the left hand side of this photo. Can anyone in that neck of the woods please keep an eye out. I’m gutted about this.

What many supporters don't realise is that when Catholics or other religious groups speak out against assisted suicide, it's nothing to do with forcing our religious beliefs on others. It's about our religious beliefs serving as a wellspring of concern for the poor, the marginalised, and the most vulnerable. It's the same as when we call for policies that prioritise the disabled, the unemployed, the homeless, migrants and the poor.

Pretty much this. It makes the tax system even more complicated - the goal should be simplification, not more complexity.

Also this policy is just begging for employers and employees to try and game contracts to minimise the tax payable, rather than simply making work pay

As a tax lawyer, let me tell you that this is a mad policy. Deeply unfair between taxpayers with no common sense basis. Pure bribery. Why should you pay less tax than your neighbour who's hours are contracted but you do regular 'overtime' ? Ridiculous.

To my mind, the final word on this historic occasion was the (almost) final scene of Derry Girls, which I find intensely moving. The brief return of Liam Neeson as the RUC officer is a wonderful touch, as is the closing shot of Grandpa Joe playing with the youngest family member.
