@shaylekann A former colleague worked on modular gasification that would use forest thinning projects (for wildfire prevention) as a feedstock, if you’re interested I can connect you with him.
The Federal Power Act cries out for @FERC to ensure ample transmission. Lawyers, why is this wrong? I'm not one but I think a lot of folks on #energytwitter are fluent in English and can read and understand these simple clear statements in federal law: (thread) 1/9
If it is not literally the warmest year ever, someone will complain that global warming has stopped.
Year-to-year fluctuations are a normal part of the ongoing global warming trend. Don't be distracted by the noise.
Good morning with good news: Price of solar-grade polysilicon, essential material for making most solar panels, has dropped more than 50% since October 2022. Prices are back to $17.51/kg and may fall to $10/kg. There is also enough of it to build 500 GWs of solar in 2023.
Solar manufacturer @Qcells_NA announced it will invest $2.5 billion in two Georgia facilities that will test the Inflation Reduction Act's potential to make the U.S. competitive against China across the #solar supply chain https://t.co/hl2sMADgop
Recently I learned about a man who has trained 1,000+ people to block wind and solar projects.
I read through all his training materials, presentations, and seminars.
Here's what I learned about him and how his students plan to "win the war on clean energy."
🧵
I want to take a minute to highlight from the perspective of a domestic solar manufacturer what an enormous missed opportunity it would be to not pass the clean energy incentive package.🧵
Goddamnit. This is a momentous loss for the world. And all the people about to say I told you so, just stop. Don’t say the fucking word extenders either. Its ok to give a shit and more people should.
@FiveThirtyEight Seems to me this graphic says a lot more about the power of incumbency (see the asterisks and the fine print) than it does about the strength or weakness of the Big Lie among voters.
The last thing we shld be doing is taxing solar. Penalizing people for doing the right thing for their families, their community, for the world - Dave Rosenfeld of @SolarRights. A powerful vid, pls take 2 mins & watch @GavinNewsom@CaliforniaPUC#SaveSolar https://t.co/dWRrxuZiwz
@drvolts There are various rapid tests available, including the more accurate PCR test, which used to take 2-3 days to get results and now takes 1 hour. In my ‘hood you sometimes can get them same-day, sometimes 2-3 days.
@PetroBowlChamp@MichaelEWebber Not all of these are on point but enough to establish that if you don’t think there’s a well-established link between anthropogenic CO2 emissions and climate change then it’s only because you aren’t paying attention, or you simply refuse to believe it: https://t.co/qYhiqPq85g
@David_Ritter @RebeccaHuntley2 I completely agree with your points. But where’s the evidence that we’re willing to really try? That’s what’s distressing. The solutions are not only already here now but are affordable (and will get even less expensive as they scale). But in the U.S. we lack the will to change.
@RebeccaHuntley2 @DanielBleakley List price for a new Nissan Leaf S starts at $31,670. Not my favorite EV but relatively affordable and gets good reviews!
@chrislhayes I’m going to suggest a friendly amendment: “. . . there are three categories of electrical usage in the home: 1) EV charging; 2) A/C; 3) Everything else.” It’s way cheaper than its gasoline equivalent but when that EV charger turns on it makes the A/C spike look modest.
