During the session on Black women in the labor force, @thomaskhudson and I shared data on inequalities in employment, labor force participation, and income. Thanks to @AnthonyMBarr for his contributions to our research!
We discussed what HBCUs are doing to help students prepare for the future of work with automation. #SACE2024
Narratives that make Black a synonym for crime aren’t just stereotypes, they’re weapons that kill. ONE Black woman pleads guilty to a crime, #DEI & ALL Black people are then blamed. These stereotypes drove a Nixonion war on crime as a war on Black people—with real casualties. 👇🏾
Extending a very personal and sincere Congratulations to Marcus Thompson on being named 13th President of @JacksonStateU. As a proud alumnus I am proud to stand in support as you work for the betterment of my Dear Old College Home.
This isn’t an accident. @JacksonStateU’s polling place is the largest in Mississippi, a state that also happens to have one of the largest Black populations in the nation.
If our vote wasn’t a threat they wouldn’t try so hard to suppress it.
GOP election totals this century tell us @tatereeves will get between 460,000 and 470,000 votes today. Can @BrandonPresley get 475,000 votes? If he can, it’s going to be a long night.
@DNjtrenton Just to be clear - I don’t endorse. I VOTE. My statement was unambiguous and represents support and acknowledgement for the work Rep. Cockerham’s done on behalf of her Alma Mater.
Rep. Cockerham has ALWAYS fought for JSU and stands as one our strongest advocates in the state. This is not a political statement but a statement of fact based on having worked with her.
Rep. Angela Cockerham is a Jackson State graduate. Sis just switched her party from Democrat to Republican and endorsed Tate Reeves. She originally wrote the bill for JSU to receive an independent water system… mysteriously she hasn’t fought for it in the last 2 sessions.
@BeauTAUful_1946 Participation is key. Alumni giving % rates matter a lot to large donors and charitable foundations - so it’s really about getting as many alums to give on a regular basis as possible - no matter the amount. Everyone can give something.
