Reformation of the GMC: It states that the GMC will be able to decide whether a PERSON (not ‘a doctor’) can be put onto the Specialist Register

Time for all of us, not just for doctors. @BMA_James_Steen@UniteSharon@AndreaEganGS
The draft GMC Order 2026 consultation just dropped. Buried in it is a fundamental change to who can be awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
This matters enormously. Let me explain why.
@timricketts_ Hard to believe that bonded medical labour can now seems like a 'good' option when earlier this century, reasonable or free tuition, and a high chance of being in a job at 5 years were basic expectations...all whilst the need for doctors has only risen.
Do you do private practice? Frustrated by insurance companies fee structures? It's important you answer this consultation from @CMAgovUK !
Numbers of people who respond matter!

Lots of attention on the 'exploitation of international doctors' in @uhbtrust
The problem a lot of you in power have is not listening to red flags -when it is raised
And I keep saying how IMGs are being exploited by all and sundry- across the NHS
Look at the date on the tweet.
I repeat.
ALL such schemes should be shut down / paused until fraud and exploitation excluded.
ALL.

@AriReddy@1919Ceepee Whilst on paper this is true, and some will be able to get through in the minimum time, I'd say it's not the reality for most docs trying to get into competitive hospital specialties in Aus.
@AriReddy@drnikkistamp Aus does have some shorter training programmes than the UK, but for many ?most that's not the reality.lots of extra years through unaccredited registrar/ principle house officer time before formal registrar training, with fellowships usually necessary to get competitive/city jobs
@clifford0584 Absolutely saw that email, just saying you can usually claim it outside the standard salary packaging limits, same for ahpra/any union membership in most places.
Do you use a bougie for your hyperangulated VL (HAVL) intubations? 👀
We just published a side-by-side comparison of five intubation adjuncts for HAVL in a simulated difficult airway.
Read it and you might consider changing your practice.

Great opportunity for doctors interested in pre-hospital critical care— @airambulancekss and @UHSussex are recruiting to PHEM Registrar posts. Fantastic exposure, expert team, and meaningful work.

@dr_tomparrott@StevenMAlderson I think overall there's less responsibility put on residents and often more put on junior regs compared to the UK, but I think it's very hospital, specialty, and state dependent.
