Documents show the John Tamihere led, Waipareira Trust made a $50,000 payment to Lifetime Black Power member, Denis O’Reilly’s Charitable Trust - Consultancy Advocacy and Research Trust (CART) for census work.

The whopping $50,000 payment was made after Stats NZ refused to pay CART for some work with gangs regarding the census.

CART’s financial accounts detail…“Waipareira Trust had been funded to promote the same outcomes and so they steered a modest sum to CART to cover our expenditure and to factor in our impact on Census 2023 participation”

What impact did CART’s involvement with gangs have in the census process that warranted a $50,000 payment from the Waipareira Trust?

Given the ongoing Manurewa Marae saga, surely this warrants further investigation.
