Since Medallion’s edge is (most likely) niche and non-public dataflows, theoretically AIG won’t matter, since it will take 20+ years to build up the same data. But if AIG happens it wouldn’t matter, since markets would cease to exist in the current form. Base (and perhaps best) is that they keep printing.
Now, did they push the FX rate too much through low rates and policy choices? Yes. The resulting increase in inflation is a «tax», but the unions ensure that real wage growth was positive. regulations, policies and tax increases have increased structural inflation on top of the FX «tax» and they’re now probably beyond the point where they can increase taxes further. It is political ineptitude and short term politics which is the problem, not willing debasement of the currency through printing of money. That’s a problem for the US, not Norway.
@EGHaug Since Norway doesn’t have debt, beyond what’s needed for a liquid reference rate curve (by law), nor a budget deficit, they don’t or can’t «print money». Primary deficit is covered by SWF, M2 increases through private credit creation. Rates too low 2010-2022 is the cause.
With an average investment period of 2-3 years, then a harvesting period of 3-4 years for a holding period of 5-8 years for a private credit fund, any allocator who use it against shorter term liabilities deserve to blow up. Also priced quarterly with a 3 month lag. Would cause losses, but too slow moving to cause a liquidity event.
@blondesnmoney Always was. Japan in the years leading up to 2008 was the sensible travelling salesman who stayed up in his hotel room drinking water whilst everybody else was downstairs at the party, but still ended up with a hangover.
@MKRocks@CendanaCapital If everyone had AGI agents, why would you even need to invest with Cendana in the first place? Why would you even need human LPs for that matter? The irony in all this is that a true AGI wouldn’t take the jobs from the lowest paid, but from the highest..
@kcambrecht Spotted this yesterday via @Mike_Taylor1972, did a quick read and jumped in. Alas, not with both feet, but still nice today, so just wanted to say thanks.

Men slike ting skjer nok oftere enn man tror.
I went to one of the world's biggest glass factories & it was REALLY cool.
Here's what I saw👇
The factory is the @Encirc plant in Cheshire.
It's enormous. Acres & acres.
If you poured anything from a glass bottle in the UK this Xmas there's a good chance it came from here...
