With the backfill we are not only closing the dig but also a scientifically very successful campaign at Thorikos. Great finds in good contexts and moreover a wide range of ecological data @ugent@ArcheoUGent@uniGoettingen@Ioannina_Univ
With the help of artificial intelligence, we see the stolen Caryatid escape from the British Museum and return to her sisters at the Acropolis Museum. Let's hope it becomes a reality.

@FreshSummerWind No! The head on the logo represents Menelaos,, taken from the Pasquino Group in Florence. It shows Menelaos carrying the body of either Patroclus or Ajax. Without correct knowledge of history there is no future
The first experimental pyre on Cyprus! In collaboration with Prof. Evi Margaritis, Dr Kiriaki Tsirtsi, Dr Angelos Hadjikoumis and the whole team from @STARC_CyI we built an open pyre in Nicosia, checking the burning conditions and the effects of fire in various materials.

Visited Thorikos today, to see the results of this year’s campaign by the team from @ArcheoUGent with @Ioannina_Univ@uniGoettingen —and I was not disappointed. There is now more evidence for 10th (and 9th) century occupation at the site 1/
We did not know what to expect on this public holiday but more than 100 interested people came to see the excavation at Thorikos and were informed about the results in Greek, English, German and French. @ugent@ArcheoUGent@uniGoettingen@Ioannina_Univ
On the 15th of August we will give the opportunity to have a look at probably the oldest Iron Age house in Attica. The day after we will start backfilling so to all our Athens and Attica based followers: do not miss it!

One of our most productive collaborators, prof. Alexandra Alexandridou, together with prof. Alexandros Mazarakis and others has produced this highly important book: The Academy before Plato. A Contribution to the Study of Early Athens. Congratulations!
We have started fieldwork at Thorikos. First sweeping the field for metal before the geomagnetic survey could start. The idea is to get a better view of the area around the Early Iron Age building we have been excavating
