@DeepDishEnjoyer@hopes_revenge it's confident 100% of the document is ai generated.
NOT 100% confident the document is ai generated.
confidence would be lower than 100%
yeah i can get behind "incoherent on the basis of scale" and do admit i tend to be too generous in my readings. i suppose a have a high (low?) bar for what constitutes as midwittery.
while i'm convinced that the argument is flawed because it fails to account for scale & i'm in your side as to why it is "obnoxious", i guess i am just refreshed to see a not-completely-stale take.
she's not necessarily arguing in favor of anything. her argument is "your values are absurd and even if they were not absurd, your supposedly selfless actions work against these values. how is it that i could be more aligned with your values when being completely selfish?"
through the video she makes following statements:
- i am a moral nonrealist
- there are groups of people who kill others who profess that the ideology they kill under is the safe one
- there are groups that have a naive understanding of moral culpability. they fail to recognize that inaction is the same as action
- your perception of moral realism relies on me agreeing with your arbitrary value system. this is not convincing
- do you realize there are alternate value systems that still produce pro-social behavior?
- my stated value system produces more pro-social behavior than yours. if your goal is pro-social behavior - and your value system is a proxy for this - why do you follow these values instead of mine? i have just demonstrated mine achieves these goals without the sharp points of yours
She is looking at *vague gesture* America and says there is a misalignment between stated goals and actions to achieve these goals. She thinks it's funny that an entirely selfish lifestyle seems to beat what ~America~ is doing.
misusing a word can make you look bad but doesn't change the argument or the yes/no midwittery of thereof
@kendrictonn maybe to tldr:
what is art that doesn't rely on quirks of the medium to show its meaning. is there any chance that you are unduly privileging some quirks above others? e.g., letters as form BAD - negative space to represent emotional distance GOOD
is this not too constricting? if im making some art i can either (1) create something as technically impressive as possible or (2) do a bit. art can be pushed forwards by either (1) or (2) but a lot of the flashiness of art comes from doing (2).
banksy's bit is "zomg juxtapose low-class tagging with high-class political commentary"
basquiat is a similar bit
mosaics, as a class of art, is entirely the bit "the big thing is made of little things that could have stood on their own!"
