Germany fails in its bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
This is, in fact, excellent and welcome news. It would have been an outrage had the German government been awarded this seat—given its stance toward Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, and Russia, too.

Had German policymakers adhered to this Concise and Easy-to-follow Rules-Based Order they would have won the non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. They did not not, and lost well deserved.

This is a bold and concerning claim by Mr. Araghchi. So far, Israel has not stopped fighting against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hezbollah has not stopped fighting back against Israel.
If those trends continue and Iran makes good on this threat - and directly attacks Israel - we may find ourselves plunged back into full war, along with all the disastrous consequences I’ve long been warning about, and even the “walk away” plan will b incredibly difficult.
President Trump should seize the moment, right now, and bring this war to an end by either walking away or agreeing w a negotiated settlement Iran can live with.
We may never get this good of a shot again.
The thing to understand about Germany's establishment is that it's not so different from the American one: self-absorbed, entitled and cartoonishly vengeful when thwarted: after losing the vote for a UN SC seat, there are threats to stop paying UN dues.
Israeli soldiers invaded the Lebanese village of Ain Arab and went door to door telling everyone:
"you either leave right now or you die."
Israel is ethnically cleansing Lebanon.
Good morning, Asia. While you were sleeping, one of our most-read stories was about US government data that showed Donald Trump’s Iran war has driven US oil inventories to their lowest level since 2004. https://t.co/kAtnmgHcuy
Israel has used American-supplied munitions to kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians.
America is morally obligated to end support of Israel’s devastation of Gaza and its people. I’m cosponsoring the Block the Bombs Act to limit the transfer of offensive weapons to Israel.
The German FM puts forward two key policy reasons as to why Germany - for the first time - lost a bid for an elected seat on the UN Security Council.
Germany's support for Ukraine and its support for Israel.
Let's be clear: Germany's support for Ukraine had nothing to do with it. Portugal and Austria - who beat Germany - are no less supportive of Ukraine.
It has EVERYTHING to do with Germany's support for Israel's genocide and the manner in which the German government has been willing to undermine international law and the UN Charter on behalf of Israel.
Germany's blind support for Israeli crimes cost Germany its seat on the UNSC. As it should.
Amazing! The House just passed a War Powers Act resolution to end the Iran war! It must now go to the Senate, but it won't need a signature from Trump.
This is the furthest any WPR has gone against the Iran war!
A major defeat for those who wish to continue the war, although it doesn't automatically force Trump's hand.
Several Republicans broke with Trump to get this passed:
Massie,
Fitpatrick,
Davidson, and
Barrett.
Several organizations deserve massive credit for this key win:

Lithuania has been in talks with the U.S. to potentially host American nuclear weapons on its territory, the country's defense minister has said.

The Iran War Powers Resolution that I cosponsored (opposing the war) just passed the House of Representatives.
The People’s House is sending a message: end this war.
As a result of a corruption probe, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner’s $4B Albania resort project just had its Albanian bank accounts frozen.
Stay tuned.
This wasn't just a vote on whether Germany should be a non-permanent member of the Security Council. It was a vote on Germany's standing in the world.

Germany's bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council ends in crushing failure
After Germany's reactions to events in Gaza, Venezuela, Lebanon and Iran, no one could believe that "its utmost priority will be respect for the rules of international law", if elected
