@playliketay I am a woman- I completely understand why someone wouldnt want a male ob/gyn. Some women only want a male ob/gyn. Either way, how does preaching that no men should ever enter the field and dunking on a med student who was respectful help? What purpose does that serve?
@SunaBolukbasi 1. Absolutely, never said otherwise
2. I’m not talking about this guy specifically, but sexualizing gynecology as a whole.
3. He’s a med student on clinicals- ob/gyn is required clinical to graduate and he was respectful. So why were people piling on him for 0 reason?
@playliketay believing that one person should not be administering healthcare to another person because of a difference in sex is sexualizing that form of healthcare. Women are sexualized enough anyway by men, no need to contribute to it further
@roxy_witch_ women have no obligation to go to a male gyn, and should be able to refuse any student. Go to whoever makes you feel comfortable. my issue is with the weirdos who think men can’t be in ob/gyn at all. Don’t know how much clearer I can be
@bellejaur@himeseul not sure where I told someone what do to with their vagina? women should see who they feel comfortable with. The weird shit going on in those comments and the idea that men as a whole are incapable of being ob/gyms is my issue. it’s not the “feminist” take you think it is
@vampexia obviously some parts of female reproductive anatomy may be used for sex. the care and physical exam of these parts is not sexual, and should never be sexualized.
@bratzboydoll@roxy_witch_ I didn’t consider whose comfort? Are the comments not full of people dunking on a random med student? They’re sexualizing their own care by pushing the idea that men are innately incapable of viewing the female reproductive system clinically. I never talked about advancement
@alcremilcery women can absolutely not want a male ob/gyn for themselves. But wanting to ban men from entering ob/gyn as a whole is unhelpful+reductionist. I’m against sexualizing your reproductive health by pushing the idea that men are innately incapable of viewing female anatomy clinically
@brenna0326 Dismissing abuse was not intended. But frankly I think the ppl in the comments are more dismissive of the issues faced by gyn pts. Why would you pile on some random med student on twitter dot com and pretend it’s activism when you get called weird? what does that achieve
@brenna0326 It’s absolutely on the hospitals/higher ups as well. The takeaway from these cases should be that hospitals/clinics need to prioritize patient safety more. There’s already a shortage of docs, we shouldn’t discourage ppl from entering obgyn instead
@himeseul I’m well aware that male ob/gyns have committed sexual abuse. Using their crimes to say that no male should be an ob/gyn just excuses that behavior as something that is innate to men and uncontrollable. Also dunking on a random med student trying to learn is weirdo behavior
