Students with IEPs are not "special education students." They are simply students, period. Every student in the building is a general education student and valuable member of the community. #LeadInclusion and #EduSky. #UDL#EdChat#TeacherTwitter
Dear Parents—your child doesn’t need to be the smartest in the class, the best on the field, or the most talented in the room.
But they do need to be teachable.
We’ve raised a generation that can Google every answer, but too many are forgetting how to listen, respect, and learn.
Being teachable isn’t about grades or intelligence—it’s about humility. It’s about realizing you don’t know everything and being willing to grow when someone tries to help you.
As parents, we don’t need to raise perfect kids.
We need to raise kids who can take feedback without falling apart.
Who can apologize.
Who can show respect even when they disagree.
Who can be corrected without becoming combative.
Because teachability will take them further than talent ever will.
Building Leaders: We must find time for classroom teachers and special educators to collaborate on planning instruction. This is the only way we can implement universal design. This investment pays off significantly for every student. #LeadInclusion#TeacherTwitter#UDL
If sleep is the only kind of rest you get this weekend,
You're setting yourself up to fail next week.
There are actually 7 types of rest we need,

1. Cut out alcohol completely. It's a nightmare for gut health, cognitive function, sleep, recovery, fat loss, and muscle building.
Differentiation is important, but time-consuming.

🚨Attendance intervention thread🚨
Our attendance lead uses a student success discussion (SSD) to identify any attendance issues and aim to help eradicate any issues. Done with the child and agreed actions to give them control and reviewed. Aimed to stop any concerns spiralling

➡️PSA #1: “SPED kids” are “Gen. Ed kids” first. Just because a student has an IEP does not mean we stop problem solving on how to reach them in Tier 1 and 2 first. The end goal is for the student to no longer need special education services. The only way this happens is when the student receives solid Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction every single day.
➡️PSA #2: Kids who have an IEP are not “SPED Kids.” They are students who have a disability. How we describe our students matters.
