Thoroughly enjoyed getting to chair Matthew's talk today. Rare to meet someone who has the scientific skill, business acumen and ability to engage the public so successfully. I look forward to seeing how these many exciting projects develop!
One of the things I love about @nathoneyshow is the lack of hierarchy. We are just members of a family who share a common passion. Here are two hugely inspirational, modest and lovely beekeepers, they happen to be Jeff Pettis President @apimondia and @nicolabradbear@BeesForDev.
I have a love-hate relationship with Friday @nathoneyshow. On one hand a great programme on the main stage kicking off with veteran bee farmer Willie Robson. On the other, a day of fantastic research lectures hosted by @BeeCraftMag. I guess it's a 'good' predicament to be in?!
Always a treat to chat with the hugely knowledgeable and entertaining Jerry Burbridge of @nthnbeebooks. You just have to accept that you will be interrupted by a constant stream of the great and the good, as well as simple book-lovers like me, wanting a few minutes of his time!
The lovely Chris from @threehareshoney being plied with old bee books by Jerry to review! 📚
Come and browse our new + old bee books at @nathoneyshow Thurs~Sat. Lots of wonderful traders here! 📍 Sandown Park Racecourse, Surrey.
Great to be back @nathoneyshow. Stellar day 1 line up, including @apimondia President Jeff Pettis, @nicolabradbear of @BeesForDev, Roger Patterson and @DaveGoulson. Extraordinary beekeeping wisdom and cutting edge science woven together by a common thread. Change. Exciting times!
@pguythompson @BeeCraftMag Thanks @pguythompson it's people like you that are so inspiring and have made it such a fascinating journey so far. I'm really excited to see where it goes! I look forward to meeting you @nathoneyshow
It's been a busy year of reading, discussing, thinking and writing about what being a more #responsible, #sustainable and #ethical#beekeeper might look like. Not much time for actual beekeeping though! I look forward to putting some of this into practice next season @BeeCraftMag
They use a 50:50 approach; harvesting 50% and leaving the rest for the wildlife. The juice was dark, concentrated and surprisingly sweet due to the long dry summer. It takes a team of rangers and volunteers to prune the trees, collect and juice the apples from all the orchards.
My #bees live in @NTKillerton #orchards. These contain dozens of traditional varieties of #Devon#cider#apple. They are managed in the traditional way and juiced using a 200 year old press. Fascinating to see an ancient #rural#craft being practiced and #skills handed down.
@AndieHill105 Our neighbour has a quince tree in his garden and it is laden with huge knobbly beautiful fruit. I'm so jealous. I love quince and have failed miserably trying to grow them. I think I'm going to drop a few hints in case he is wondering what to do with them all...
