@LauraLoomer Are you saying that you would set a series of complex and highly sadistic traps that would force some of us to make difficult and morally gray decisions in hopes of survival?
@JoelWBerry “Guys, all we have to do is make sure the most powerful organization in world history doesn’t take too much of the power provided by new powerful tools! Easy!”
@schmeckels@AuronMacintyre “Do things that one enjoys” will, for most people, include porn, video games, bad food, and drugs. Yes, hard work that you don’t enjoy but provides for you and loved ones, while less preferable to enjoyable work, is actually good for you. It makes you a better person.
@eatliverbro Star Trek is going to be real, you guys! And I spent my whole life watching Star Trek so I know exactly how it’s all going to go down. *giggle*
@drydenwtbrown Ah got it. You’re one of the “nobles” lol. The bulk of people will get fatter, more stoned, and more porn-addled. I’m sure that will work well for our species.
@JuliaEMcCoy Do you think a “high income” UBI would increase your followers, increasing the number of social media “consumers”, rotting and stinking at home while scrolling on their phones and looking at your useless contributions to the world? So maybe you have a bias here?
@CattardSlim “We could, of course, crack down on fraud occurring across the country instead of raising your taxes even more, but we don’t want to do that. So you can keep paying for the Learing Centers and also pay more in taxes.”
@BanjoAtheist “Deeply abusive”, and yet all I feel is love. From my Lord, from my church, and from my happy family and friends. You don’t understand anything. Hope someday you do.
@bigmemetic@drydenwtbrown Either way, AI isn’t going to change that direction. Abundance is likely a myth anyway. Marketing from a man who I don’t even hate, but who has a history of telling over-the-top promises of what his technology will provide. But high UBI results in more fat, stoned, porn addicts.
@bigmemetic@drydenwtbrown As machines have already made life so much physically easier and standards of living higher, more and more people are choosing obesity, marijuana, porn, and general idleness. The idle want more. They say AI will open humanity up to new artistic pursuits. Lol. Porn, pot, Doritos.
@drydenwtbrown You’re creating a strawman to tear down, or cherry picking the worst arguments to attribute to all who oppose UBI. It has nothing to do with materialism or “economic productivity”. It is about a purpose which drives effort, providing for self and others, and overcoming obstacles.
@PostDisclosure For most, there would be no “spiritual work, reading, and studying.” It would be porn and drugs and video games and bad dietary choices. And yes, doing work you “despise” for survival and to provide for family is quite good for you. It makes you a better, more resilient person.
