The side of organ transplants that most people are not aware of.

When we think about transplants, the image most people have comes from the media narrative surrounding the procedure: benevolent donors, selfless acts, and a fortunate recipient receiving what is often described as a life-saving intervention.
Here is what many people don’t realize.

First, organ harvesting occurs while patients are still alive, which makes the entire industry ethically questionable for anyone who looks more closely at the process.
Second, hospitals are able to sell organs. While many believe this is a purely donation-based system in which hospitals simply allow nonprofits to match donors with recipients, the reality is that the entire process carries significant fees at every stage.

When someone does receive an organ, that process introduces additional layers of cost and potential profit, including organ preparation, surgery, and lifelong medications required afterward.

This is the lesser-known side of the organ transplant system.

It is highly profitable and often places those who participate into a lifelong medical dependency.

Rather than waiting until a transplant becomes necessary, the best approach is to support and heal the body while all of its systems are still intact. Instead of relying on solutions outside of ourselves or waiting until our bodies are so broken they need new parts, we can take control and heal.
