Dating to c. 3rd century CE, it once held scented oils which would have poured forth from an opening in its mouth.

Mankind's earliest portable art was found in those caves, e.g. the marvellous figure of the #lion man, carved in mammoth ivory some 40,000 years ago. 1/2
