Então a equipe de marketing fez uma pergunta diferente.

E se patrocinássemos o menor clube possível?

A resposta foi o Stevenage FC.

Na época, o time jogava na quarta divisão inglesa, tinha um estádio para apenas 2.800 pessoas e quase nenhuma visibilidade internacional.

Mas dentro do FIFA, todos os clubes aparecem no mesmo universo.

No modo carreira do jogo, qualquer jogador pode contratar estrelas como Messi ou Cristiano Ronaldo para jogar em qualquer time.

Inclusive no Stevenage.

O Burger King percebeu algo que ninguém havia explorado.

Se patrocinasse o Stevenage, o logo da marca apareceria automaticamente no uniforme digital dentro do FIFA.

Foi então que nasceu o “Stevenage Challenge”.

A proposta era simples: escolher o Stevenage no jogo, contratar grandes estrelas, marcar um gol e postar o vídeo nas redes sociais.

Em troca, os jogadores ganhavam comida grátis no Burger King.

O resultado foi imediato.

Em poucas semanas, milhares de vídeos começaram a circular com Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo e Neymar vestindo a camisa do Stevenage com o logo do Burger King.

Mais de 25 mil gols foram compartilhados nas redes.

O Stevenage virou um dos times mais usados do FIFA 20.

E pela primeira vez na história do clube, as camisas do time esgotaram.

A campanha gerou mais de 1 bilhão de impressões de mídia espontânea e ganhou o Grand Prix no Cannes Lions, o prêmio mais importante da publicidade mundial.

Tudo com um investimento de cerca de U$ 65 mil.

A grande lição não é sobre futebol.

É sobre entender o sistema onde as pessoas já estão interagindo e encontrar a brecha que ninguém percebeu.
