Today, TMC MLA from Nabagram, Kanai Chandra Mondal, caused quite a scene on the Down Intercity Express, showing once again how some leaders believe they are above the law.

Traveling with two extra people, one of whom was carrying a ticket that didn't even belong to them, MLA Mondal was confronted by the diligent Ticket Inspector (TT) who rightfully questioned the dubious arrangement. Instead of addressing the issue or showing any respect for the rules, the MLA decided to throw his weight around, using his position to intimidate the TT into ignoring the violation.

But the passengers onboard were having none of it. Tired of such high-handed behavior and blatant abuse of power, they stood firmly in support of the TT. They made it clear that just because someone holds a title or office, it doesn't mean they can flout the rules or bully their way through situations.

This incident is a clear example of the arrogance that some TMC leaders exhibit, thinking they can bend the law to their will. The passengers’ courageous stand against the MLA’s threats sent a strong message: the people will not tolerate such behavior, and those who think they can use their political influence to escape accountability are sorely mistaken.

It’s time for the TMC to take a hard look in the mirror and recognize that respect for rules and the people they serve should be their top priority, not their own self-interest and entitlement.
