In 2023, a long-standing problem in mathematics was solved with the discovery of the “hat” tile, an aperiodic monotile.

The 13-sided shape can cover an infinite plane completely, with no gaps or overlaps, using copies of just this one shape. However, the resulting pattern can never become periodic—it does not repeat in a regular pattern.

The shape was discovered by David Smith, a retired print technician and tiling enthusiast from Yorkshire, England. He then worked with mathematicians Joseph Samuel Myers, Craig S. Kaplan, and Chaim Goodman-Strauss to prove its properties.

The term “einstein” comes from the German ein Stein, meaning “one stone,” and has nothing to do with Albert Einstein.

The discovery solved a problem mathematicians had studied for decades: whether a single shape could tile the plane only in a non-repeating way.

Gina Haspel played a major role in obstructing the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the 2017 Obama ICA.

Investigators were confined to a CIA “read room” at Langley and prohibited from taking their notes, laptops, or materials outside. They were denied proper computers and search software, while thousands of relevant intelligence documents were available only in paper binders. CIA-issued computers suffered deliberate technical problems that caused lost text and footnotes.

Also restricted investigators’ access to the ICA’s five authors. It took nearly five months for the committee to interview them.

After she took over the CIA, she locked up all drafts of the House Intel Committee report in a gun safe inside a vault in a highly secure room at CIA headquarters until she left office in January 2021. She also impounded all the examiners’ notes and other work materials.

1. Illegal leaks of highly classified military planning data, obtained by someone who almost certainly knew they were committing a serious felony with possible punishments including death. Do you think the Washington Post cares? Do they have a conscience?

2. Illegal access by WaPo's Dastardly Dam Lamothe of sensitive personnel data on the "Pentagon system" (Dastardly Dan's words, not mine) of former temporary federal "Special Government Employees" who were and are now private citizens. I'm guessing the person who granted such illegal access has no idea he or she committed a criminal misdemeanor. Do you think Dastardly Dan or anyone else in the WaPo warned that stooge of the possible consequences of what he or she was doing? Probably not. Do you think the Washington Post cares? Senior Airman Elizabeth Loncki was a 23-year-old Air Force EOD tech from New Castle, Delaware.

Deployed to Iraq in 2006, she was part of a four-person team that ran 194 missions around Baghdad and safely disarmed 129 IEDs.

On January 7, 2007, her team was investigating a suspicious vehicle near Al-Mahmudiyah when a car bomb detonated. Loncki and two of her teammates were killed.

She was just 20 days from coming home. Her boyfriend had planned to propose.
