The most triggering part of celebrity cancer deaths for me is how the media jumps on the battle language bandwagon. Nobody LOSES their “battle” with cancer. Sure as hell not someone like Olivia Newton John who dealt with it for decades. She wins. Treatments failed her.
Years ago when I was a radiology resident I questioned an OB GYN for ordering a CT on a pregnant patient. I wondered why there was no concern for irradiating the fetus, for which the OB GYN simply responded: “No mother, no baby”.
Learned an important lesson that day.
Skylar is 13 and has stage 4 metastatic Ewing Sarcoma. @excellusBCBS is denying coverage for her to get a biopsy despite it being their only option available to help cure her. This is disgusting.
Preparing for death isn’t always something that can be done. But having conversations with loved ones about organ donation is something we can and should all do.
Please get vaccinated… if not for yourself for those around you. My parents refused to get vaccinated, caught covid, passed it to my daughter. They’re fine, but now she’s in the ICU preparing to be intubated. Please, PLEASE. I cannot stress this enough.
@GeorgeSquatchy@ggrutt@BobLonsberry Wouldn’t be any different than any other day! Sad that you look at HCWs as just people who wipe asses and shower people all day. Clearly you think very highly of your wife’s profession. Have a great day sir.
@GeorgeSquatchy@ggrutt@BobLonsberry I’m a HCW at a local Rochester hospital and it’s definitely not all of us. As someone living with cancer on top of being a HCW I won’t miss the employees refusing the vaccine. It’s irresponsible being in nursing and not being vaccinated. Shows that you only care about yourself.
