Plus, then there'd be people who provide justification for Christianity in an intellectually honest manner, but who according to you can't be apologists, which doesn't seem right. This is why I think the 'original' works better as a/2

@DavidMcdonald89 @CapturingChrist and would mean that there are defenders of the Christian faith who are intellectually honest in their approach, and therefore not apologists. Unless I'm mistaken of course, and you're using a different meaning than those or something else.

'Defender of an idea': virtually everyone is an apologist and ergo not intellectually honest in doing it which isn't accurate

Someone who defends an idea, without regard to truth etc: which makes your statement a tautology,

@DavidMcdonald89 @CapturingChrist Someone who sells an idea, will sell that idea, and someone who has built an empire defending an idea will generally have a stronger bias towards keeping that idea. That's not unique to apologists tho, it's a general truth which applies to atheists, and non religious topics too.

I don't think that this criticism works specifically against apologetics, instead of just anyone who discusses any topic.

Wat een geweldig, maar dan ook oprecht, geweldig college! @70mdb (Mandeville staf) opende de middag. De Q&A werd verzorgd door wethouder @ThierryvanVugt (wat kan Thierry dat ongelooflijk goed). De zaal zat vol met studenten, alumni, docenten en vrienden v Mandeville. #Gouda

Vrijdag 1 september 2023 opende vice-admiraal en plaatsvervangend Commandant der Strijdkrachten Boudewijn Boots het academisch jaar van Mandeville Academy in het stadhuis v #Gouda. Minister Kajsa Ollongren was door omstandigheden verhinderd.
