For me, one book that changed my mindset early on was The Richest Man in Babylon. I still revisit it years later.
One good book can save you ten years of expensive mistakes.

Start today. Your children should inherit wisdom, not just your struggles. I am so grateful that I can discuss wealth building and finances with my Children, I buy them courses and we sometimes watch and study together. They are never too young to be introduced especially once they become teenagers

MOST PEOPLE INVEST IN THE WRONG ORDER

• Track every naira in and out for 30 days.

• Give every naira a job before the month starts.

• Kill your highest interest debt first. Not the smallest. The most expensive.

• Save 1 to 3 months of expenses somewhere you will not touch.

Investing while drowning in debt is how people stay stuck for years.

THEN YOU START BUYING ASSETS

• Money market funds or treasury bills first. Safe, and beating inflation.

• Then index or mutual funds. Automate it. Even ₦10,000 monthly.

• Then real assets you actually understand.

• Then a skill that raises your income, because that is the highest return you will ever get.

Never invest money you need within 5 years. Never buy what you cannot explain.

And when your income rises, raise the percentage you invest, not your lifestyle.

You’re meant to get experience through projects.

Personal projects, volunteer projects, there are platforms you can also use to build experience, they need to know you can do the work, that you’ve practiced.

No one will hold your hand or walk you through anything, the job market is changing, only few companies might do that.

Your NYSC counts as experience too btw.

Local government workers are the worst, they come by 11, then they would start eating breakfast and by 2 pm, they're heading back home again. Part of the system Peter Obi government must confront is this, there should be work for the money and not receiving free money. Most Secondary school teachers in Villages go to school by 11am.

So I attended a tech event anonymously here in Lagos yesterday. The room was full of big startup founders, CEOs and SaaS builders I've always wanted to work with. Many of these guys are not that active on social media. I saw some of my Twitter noisemakers there😂. I was just there silently observing everything (I was anon). These people get money ehn. I was very shy to approach them to be honest. Towards the end of the event, I was pressed, so I went to the rest room where I met one young baddie, she works as a brand strategist for one of the companies I pitched to earlier this year. I quickly engaged her, we exchanged contact. Mission successful.
