@robkhenderson It's always fair to critique people for how they are acting "now" while still appreciating things they have done in the past or may continue to do in the future. Plenty of people in the world with an insane amount of money; most of them are not attention seeking trolls.
@ValidScience@thomaschattwill Owens is the very definition of a bad-faith actor. If you think "leftist" ideology isn't credible, you have to be at least as skeptical of someone who thinks Hitler only did wrong when setting his sights outside Germany, and doesn't trust things said on websites with a .com...
@bariweiss I had the misfortune of watching a clip of him while learning about Trump's dinner, and it's shocking that people equate regular right-wing pundits (who I find quite disagreeable already) with white supremacists. On the other hand, those same right-wing sources will make...
@BretWeinstein@ClydeRathbone@elonmusk It's not the public square if most of the world isn't using it...considering that intelligent people keep claiming otherwise either means they are lying or purely delusional.
@BretWeinstein@elonmusk Or Twitter has ceased to be a legitimate platform with a real TOS and is on it's way to be 4chan, and well-intentioned, intelligent people with a large following don't want to be a part of the problem. But probably it's a conspiracy.
@RealCandaceO@SamHarrisOrg I think we can all agree that Sam may be right or wrong on various subjects, but it would be hard to argue his take on @RealCandaceO...
@KonstantinKisin You guys can call it TDS, but the fact is : Sam sees Trump for what he is and doesn't take it easy on him simply because it would make an anti-woke subset of his fans happy. Way more courage than people like @triggerpod, who have fully given into audience capture...
@GadSaad There is no value in engaging with grifters. And it takes courage to break friendships with people you know are doing wrong and acting in bad faith.
@RealCandaceO@SamHarrisOrg Notice that grifters always scorn graphs and statistics, while readily accepting graphs and statistics pointing in the opposite opinion of their ideology. "These thousands of experts are clearly wrong, because these dozens of experts say so!"
@SamHarrisOrg@Emmyjewel Another is having a strict TOS that makes bannable offenses very clear; doxing, threats of violence, calls for violence, hate speech, making fun of Elon Musk's face, you name it.
@SamHarrisOrg@Emmyjewel I don't see a contradiction. Twitter is not the state, or the public square, no matter what people addicted to it may insist. And there are better and worse ways to set guidelines for a forum of public opinion. Amplifying conspiracy theories and outright lies is one.
@SamHarrisOrg@BretWeinstein At this point any moderation is simply the magic wand of Musk's mood at any given time. I don't even see how free-speech figures into it. If it's yes to Trump but no to Alex Jones, then the guy clearly doesn't have any kind of sensible TOS in mind.
@davereaboi Outside of Twitter, in fact, we do agree, generally, what dangerous lies are like and that we want to discourage them and shut up the people spreading them. If I stand at astreet corner shouting that my neighbor is a child raping cannibal, I fully expect to be silenced...
@benshapiro This might slightly increase viewership from the US for the World Cup, just so the anti-culture-warriors can get offended by something. Maybe focus on things that actually matter...
@thomaschattwill I've been amazed all these years that Candace Owens can be a parasite on the right at least as bad as any of race baiters on the left and be treated like a legitimate interlocuter by otherwise respectable people.
@ByronBay1@SamHarrisOrg I've enjoyed reading and listening to J.P in the past, but at this point the only cancellations he and his followers are likely to care about would be those the right would care to shelter.
