Under-discussed part of Tywin's character is that he's wrong about basically everything, but because he rams his way through every conversation with witty platitudes, charismatic confidence and aura, nobody - him, the characters, the audience - notices he's full of shit.

Ironically this over-quoted scene is proof that Tywin is a fraud. The Red Wedding destroys the Westerosi social contract between lord and liege as well as violating sacred guest right. It's a shame Tyrion killed Tywin before he'd have to watch the whole thing blow up in his face.
