If anything the whole Jahaerys heirs mess showed that the King has a choice in the naming of his heir.

It’s only post-Dance that the rules of succession are solidified under the Greens influence.

Yet much further down the line, the possibility of a choice of heirs appears again when it came for Maekar’s succession.
By all accounts Maegor son of Aerion was the legitimate heir and yet he didn’t inherit (100$ that he was meant to be fAegon ancestor).

Lmao, Tywin directly gives Tyrion all power to deal with all the King’s Landing « idiots » who managed to fuck it all up.

Littlefinger has no power, no leverage, nothing over Tyrion, except supposedly his ability to make money appear, which for a LANNISTER is worthless.

He has no important lordships, no armies, no bloodties, nothing but his schemes.

The fact that Tyrion leaves him alive, whilst Littlefinger tried to cause his death (and started the WOTFK) is peak retardness.

Had Tyrion just spoken about what he heard at his trial in the Eyrie and Tywin would have sent the Mountain after LF.
GRRM glosses over it quite fast in Tyrion’s inner thoughts when he’s in King’s Landing because he knows it’s slippy plot.

I like Littlefinger, the little creepy evil Gatsby expy that he is, but there’s no denying GRRM kinda fucked around with the details, which in the grand scheme of things is fine, but let’s not pretend is flawless.
