The High Commission of India in London has issued a statement condemning "indecorous audience behaviour" after a video from CJI Surya Kant's June 4 lecture at Birkbeck College went viral, showing an attendee attempting to raise questions on dissent in India during an event convened specifically on 'Artificial Intelligence and International Law,' before being cut off by the organiser. The High Commission said differences of opinion are natural in a democracy but must be expressed "in a manner that is civil and respectful."
Former technical member of NCLAT Vijai Pratap Singh appears in person before the Supreme Court in a writ petition challenging the rule that bars him to practice before NCLAT
Justice Joymalya Bagchi: We will welcome you to argue before the supreme court.
Singh: But why this restriction? There can be cooling off period.
Justice Bagchi: Think about independence of judiciary. You have been a member of the tribunal. It is a super special tribunal. Imagine you appear before another member who was working when you were there. What perception would it create in mind of ordinary litigant?

“One Vote… One Constitutional Crisis.”
The Supreme Court came down heavily on the Madras High Court over its interim order in a razor-thin election dispute where the margin was just ONE vote.
Senior Advocates battled over whether a writ petition under Article 226 could bypass the election petition remedy, while the Bench called the situation “atrocious to say the least.”
At the heart of the controversy:
A postal ballot meant for one constituency was mistakenly opened in another constituency — a mistake that could have changed the result entirely and forced a tie-break under election law.
The Court questioned:
“How on earth does the High Court list a writ petition on a Sunday in an election matter?”
Yet, it also acknowledged that extraordinary constitutional consequences may justify urgent judicial intervention.
Finally, the Supreme Court stayed the High Court’s order and all further proceedings, turning this one-vote battle into a major constitutional showdown on election law, judicial powers, and democratic process.

@bihar_police
OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION: REGARDING THE ERRONEOUS CIRCULATION OF ELECTION COMMISSION DOCUMENT
It has come to our notice that a letter from the Election Commission, bearing the seal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is being circulated across various Malayalam news channels. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) hereby clarifies that this was purely a clerical error, which was identified and rectified immediately.
The BJP Kerala Unit had recently approached the CEO’s office seeking clarification on the 2019 guidelines regarding the publication of criminal antecedents of candidates. Along with their request, the party submitted a photocopy of the original 2019 directive. The party's seal was present on that specific copy provided by them.
Due to an oversight, the office failed to notice the party symbol on the submitted document and inadvertently redistributed it to other political parties as part of the requested clarification. The guidelines in question have undergone revisions since 2019, which have already been communicated to all political entities.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer acknowledged the lapse as soon as it was detected. Consequently. On March 21, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer issued a formal letter withdrawing the erroneous document. The withdrawal notice was dispatched to all political parties, District Election Officers, and Returning Officers.
The public and media are requested to refrain from spreading misleading messages based on this clerical error. The Election Commission maintains a rigorous and foolproof system to ensure that the electoral process remains free from any external interference or influence.
