Felicia Hambrick was babysitting her best friend’s three kids in Tacoma when the family’s pit bull suddenly attacked.
She was holding the 8-month-old baby when the dog knocked her to the floor.
Felicia curled her body around the baby and refused to let go.
She was bitten over and over on her arms, legs, stomach and neck, but she kept herself between the dog and the child the entire time.
The baby was never bitten once.
Felicia spent five days in the hospital and needed 94 staples to close her wounds.
She took the full force of that attack so someone else’s baby wouldn’t have to.
That is what a hero looks like.
@JayShooster@nick_guerrera He said clearly and forthrightly that this is an engineering problem, and that these models in training should not be given access to the open internet.
This is obviously true and running them not on intranet only servers is a core failing of the testing process.
Today, with over 100 industry partners, we introduced the NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform, bringing together OpenShell and Sentry.
Artificial intelligence is extraordinary technology that will advance discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity for generations to come.
But its full promise can only be realized when people have confidence that AI is being built to be safe and deployed with wisdom and responsibility.
This is bigger than a single product. It's the beginning of an open ecosystem to build the trust layer for safe agent systems.
Together, we are building the foundation of the AI economy.
Trust and innovation are not in conflict. Safety is how trust is earned. We must build not only the most capable AI, but the most trusted AI, so that this extraordinary technology can realize its enormous promise for the world. https://t.co/ugYWQ1MyRi
This is what serious technical leadership looks like.
No NGOs were needed. No multilateral coalition governing companies. Companies can take responsibility for their own actions.
Thank you NVIDIA for showing what true AI safety should look like.
It’s interesting that the language being used here removes agency from the labs
I frequently hear “agents are good at escaping sandboxes”
And not “labs test agents highly insecure environments to test agents in, resulting in huge externalities”
If Boeing missiles regularly misfired into major cities during the R&D process, no one would say “missiles are really good at accidentally misfiring”
The headline would definitely be “Boeing fails to safely develop missiles”
@AndrewYang Not true at all.
These models were directed to perform hacking tasks for the cyber gym benchmark.
They did exactly what they were told to do.
Maybe having a hacking benchmark is problematic if you don’t know how to disconnect your server from the internet.
@krystalball Every take of yours is bad and poorly informed.
We would be much better served if we shut down all internet news shows until they can get their facts straight.
You and others like you are causing real harm, we just don’t know the extent yet.
So…
Billionaires sitting at Trump’s head table for Xi visit: 5
Bernie Sanders outrage posts about it: 4
Billionaires sitting at Obama’s head table for Xi visit: 5
Bernie Sanders outrage posts about it: 0
Bernie Sanders is a grifting fraud.
“Don't think for a second that because you are an alarmist that you are doing a social good.”
This sentence is just devastating for so many intellectuals who need everybody to presume that they’re “the good people”
Thank goodness we have Jensen!
@ThePrimeagen@neogoose_btw I personally use 1B tokens a week on average and I can confidently say, doing 1000x that would mean having 0 context on what your tokens are going towards.
Just automated workflows feeding automated workflows.
@Liv_Boeree@brian_armstrong You may or may not realize that agents are essentially a hack to get around the context engineering problem of Context Rot, each agent spins it's task with it's given context and then the result is distilled for the primary orchestrating agent.
The scaling increases throughput
