A friend of mine went through a divorce, and his ex took his entire memorabilia collection.

I’ve replaced a few things, including bigger items (a Bo Jackson signed helmet, and a Ted Williams ball), but his crown jewel was a Koufax ball.

Happy Opening Day to all who observe!

It’s been a long Winter, and I’m grateful that we’re all here together this Spring; wether you’re with me, awaiting the coming of the Roman Empire, or even if you’re rising in chambers for the Judge.

It’s a wildly romantic beginning, best described, in my opinion, by Ken Burns:

“It follows the seasons, beginning each year with the fond expectancy of springtime, and ending with the hard facts of autumn"

And it’s our last, best, vestige of an America, and a world, that doesn’t exist anymore.

It is folksy, it is romantic, and it’s pride is built on, and steeped in, physical and emotional endurance.

God bless, God speed, and most importantly: welcome to the next Spring, Summer, and Fall of our lives.

May your early bloom be beautiful, your late harvest rewarding, and the intervening Summer be full of hope.
