Resolved to do whatever I think to be my duty and most for the good and advantage of mankind in general. Resolved to do this, whatever difficulties I meet with, how many and how great soever.
Starting the new year with a look at the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards in 1723. Here's one: Resolved, that I will do whatsoever I think to be most to God’s glory, and my own good, profit and pleasure in the whole of my duration…
I was also introduced to Randy Stonehill. Heard Nicky Cruz preach. And was profoundly affected by Tom Skinner’s sermon, which I recently found here: https://t.co/j5v1uvg5hx
Fifty years ago this summer, I attended Jesus 73 in Morgantown, PA. It was gloriously revitalizing. I discovered the Chronicles of Narnia in the book tent. I was introduced to Andre Crouch and the Disciples.
In pursuing his calling, Christ will not break the bruised reed, nor quench the smoldering wick, in which more is meant than is spoken, for he will not only not break nor quench, but he will cherish those with whom he so deals. – Richard Sibbs (1577-1635) re Isaiah 42:3
Isaiah has good council for us. He says, “Strengthen the weak hands. Make firm the feeble knees. Say to those with anxious hearts, ‘Be strong. Don’t be afraid. Look to your God. He will come and save you.’” This is a wonderful service to God's people. And always helpful.
@Alex_DiPrima Psalm 150:4-6
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

@sometimesalight There are significant numbers who have pre-determined that a “bad outcome” in the election will be the justice of God on a nation that hates him: Things will get worse. If we suffer, it will be good for us. God will be glorified.
@sometimesalight In my evangelical circles I see very few people aligning themselves with a candidate. I hear a lot of them talking as if a big win by the wrong group will signal the beginning of an apocalypse.
My heart is glad! My whole being rejoices! And my body can rest securely. For you will not abandon my soul to the place of the dead or allow the one you have chosen and made your very own to perpetually rot in the grave.
