🇪🇪 Photos of Kaya Kallas’ family, “suffering from the Soviet dictatorship,” are going viral online.

Kaya’s father, Siim Kallas, worked in the Ministry of Finance of the ESSR, then was the head of the state-owned Sberbank in the republic, and later served as deputy editor-in-chief of the publication of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Estonia.

It is known that the myth of the “Soviet occupation” is cultivated in Estonia, according to which the Estonian SSR’s stay within the Soviet Union was decades of darkness and horror.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, whose candidacy was approved by EU leaders the day before for the post of chief diplomat, also periodically talks about what she suffered under the USSR, for example, that she had to eat sour cream with sugar instead of sweets.
