@fromthe_topdeck English/Lobb pushing deep forward from centre bounces presumably to prevent Saints freeing up Wilkie with the other talks.
Like, I get it but ... surely there's a better way to stop Wilkie intercepting
@fromthe_topdeck Since 1990 four teams have won back to back flags before Brisbane.
Lions 01-02 won a third, so did Hawks 13-14.
Adelaide 97-98 and Richmond 19-20 didn't make finals the year after.
I know which one seems more likely for Brisbane...
@fromthe_topdeck I might be very naive about Melbourne but honestly don't see the doom unless they blow up the joint and trade Trac/Clarry. Showed promise late in the year and one team always rises out of nowhere to make finals after being rubbish. Hope King has a plan for post-Gawn though
@chris_willo utterly baffling to me that the solution to 'game is unwatchable and people are tuning out' is 'cull two teams and lose two supporter bases to the game forever'
@fromthe_topdeck@JoeyFortune@freocrood Nah you're bang on with Tex being that guy. Still remember him marking 60 out in the 2015 elimination final, going back and sending it through half goalpost height.
@chris_willo Fairly sure that was vs Collingwood, this one Razor thought he heard the siren when it hadn't sounded and expressed it in a way he wouldn't be able to these days

@lenphil29 honestly the big brain move was to send Jayden Seales out as nightwatchman. Wouldn't have swung because Starc wouldn't have put a ball in his half after that send-off
@chris_willo@JoeyFortune Closest I can come is Joel Hamling leaving the Bulldogs a week after the flag for Freo but had a pretty large personal reasons asterisk
@fromthe_topdeck@lenphil29 today's highlight for me was liking calling a chad warner fend-off a jousting stick so much he repeated it another 11 times for the day
@fromthe_topdeck Last three years have all had an overwhelming flag favourite at this point in the year - Melb in 2022 went out in straight sets, Sydney last year fell off a cliff and got flogged in the GF, Pies in between won 3 finals by a goal or less.
Give me 4 chances over 1 still.
@fromthe_topdeck I could get behind the idea that if your top 5 are all to their usual output then your bottom 5 being 15 per cent better than they usually are has had the bigger impact on the match but that's nowhere near as fun a question and I'm not even sure if it's right anyway.
@fromthe_topdeck I think the question also assumes a standard level of excellence from the top 5 i.e. top 5 all being great and bottom 5 either better or worse than usual.
Carl v GWS great example - bottom 5 (Lord, HOF) better than GWS but Weitering awful, Walsh down, Curnow good not great.
