@AgnesCallard At least for novels, it's an artifact of how the publishing industry works. A publisher buys a book based on the blurb and opening chapters. If those are bad, the book won't get printed. If the end is bad, no one will know until it's too late.
@LMSacasas Funny timing, I was reflecting on similar things in a recent piece I wrote, specifically on one of these AI wearables whose creator says it's meant to "replace God."
