@branthansen I'm in such a weird place. I've been a software developer / manager for 15 years and have always been big tech enthusiast, but I'm a huge "AI" skeptic, both in terms of how we seem to be using it, and in how useful it can actually be.
For now (forever?) I'll write words myself.
@davepl1968 I'm quite confident that I'm not autistic, but I was (and still am) the "tear it apart" kind of nerd.
Sound board have a broken switch? Just open it up and bridge the connection. We wanted phantom power enabled in any case.
@theskizzleman You flying today? I hope your flight isn't delayed. I'm flying Alaska Air from PHX back home to Portland, and I'm delayed by the previous flight that is coming here from SEA.
@davepl1968 The final remark is great and needs to be practiced more often.
I talked with my mom this morning after breakfast - she and my dad wanted some tech advice 😉
@davepl1968@FiniusMcTbag I do, but only as a novelty. My wife and I have considered getting a private room on the train from Portland to Chicago as an alternative to road tripping.
Of course, because we only think about, we're obviously not seriously interested, but it is a neat idea.
@davepl1968 I'm a big fan of having a modern radio and EFI (and not just because of the coincidental overload of the acronym with my chosen field), but I'm on board with having far less tech in an automobile.
@Oceanbreeze473 Would you agree to have a 50% chance of occasional vomiting for 24 hours if someone paid you 25¢ ?
That's the equation you're working with here.
@F_Botha_USA@adafruit "An update from a previous post last month: The University of Utah’s School of Computing found and recovered a magnetic tape with the only known copy of Unix v4, the first version of the operating system ..."
It is not isolated to this store or city, either. I saw the exact same issue near Portland a week ago. When my wife brought the bad drink to one of the employees, they even argued with her and told her that she ordered it wrong.
It's a shame that you have to double check a mobile order at @Starbucks because their printers are so terrible (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, and assuming it isn't deliberate).
This 1 is supposed to be a 4.
@Frenck This my office at work. Waving my hands around doesn't reliably turn it back on.
What does turn it back on is someone walking past my open door.
