There's this thing that happens at Nigerian parties that amuses me.

They treat high table guests like mini-gods and regulars as if they came to beg.

As someone who used to work in events, I’ve seen guests target vendors as if it’s their fault, but they don’t know what goes down in vendors’ meetings.

The client will tell you:
Small chops is only for the high table,
Suya is only for the high table,
Milkshake is only for the high table, Barbecue is only for the high table.

Then why don’t you just invite only high table guests to the party?

Almost every Black baby I know born in the UK seems to have eczema.

My first daughter’s eczema was quite severe. Someone said to me, “They don’t use to bathe Black babies,” suggesting it may have been linked to her first bath or frequent bathing.

Our GP prescribed an emollient and a bath emollient, and I managed her skin with those alongside ABF cream whenever she had flare-ups.

By the time I had my second and third babies, I followed the advice I’d been given and didn’t give them regular baths for the first month. Instead, I used the bath emollient on a soft cloth to gently clean them.

Their skin has been noticeably better than my first’s. I don’t know whether that’s the reason but I’d genuinely love to hear from Nigerian parents with babies born in the UK who didn’t struggle with eczema. Did you do anything differently?

This is a young medical doctor called Dr Innocent. He’s working as a house officer at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State.

Dr Innocent and his other doctor colleagues who are also house officers have NOT been paid for 290 days.

Yes you read that right.
A whole 290 days of working as a medical doctor with ZERO pay. That’s about 10 months work with NO pay.

According to Dr Innocent,
The Ministry of Defence has refused to pay their salaries for no reason. This young medical doctors are being worked like slaves while receiving ZERO pay.

They have nobody to speak for them.
They have nobody to fight for them.
They are suffering and dying in silence.

In 2023, I applied for a position at Zenith Bank and was successful. I completed all the rigorous stages of the employment process and received my official offer letter from the HR department via email.
While my colleagues proceeded to Abuja to collect their posting letters, I declined to do so due to my strong passion for teaching. Fast forward to 2026, I have successfully completed my MSc in Mathematics and Education.
